Hi, my brother has bought a laptop with a wireless router:
    HP Pavilion DV1448EA/Netgear DG834G
To set it up we have to type some numbers into the address bar of internet explorer( i think it's the ip address). It's then supposed to go to a page where we log in as with a username and password despite not being connected to the internet. The problem is that it keeps saying "this page is unavailable offline".So we click "work offline" and nothing happens. Obviously we can't connect without the router working.
If anyone could help i would be grateful
    Thanks

when first setting up your wireless router, you need to be plugged into it with a cable. whenever you make any changes with your wireless router, you should be directly plugged in. Once you make whatever configuration settings you need to do, you can exit the router browser and use it wirelessly.
