Does anyone know of a good index that can tell you what processes you can end w/out it causing any problems.... Many thanks, MPenney
Hi mpenney Most commonly, you can google each process you have. The results produced will be helpful, as no single website will have every process in its index. Best Regards
Why not go through task manager and kill them one by one.. noting which ones respawn and which ones cause a system restart? Why is this suddenly a hot topic.. isn't 2 gigs of ram enough for you windows boys? I'm sitting here happily typing away and listening to tunes on 128MB Did you know moment... shutting down lots of system processes can actually slow a machine down if every time you launch a program it has to respawn and start a heap of normally TSR sleeping processes?.. Make sure to turn your firewall and antivirus off now.. they take up heaps of resources, and you don't need them to just browse the web.
Wouldnt I want the firewall up while on the internet? If not please explain as I am curious and would like the knowledge. Thanks in advance, MPenney
