I have put aside my XP in start woring on my Win.98 In when I was trying to put My brand new Pentium Processor IIII into the Processor chip Holder it will not go in I have tried mostly everything I knew.So when I look at the new Pentium ProcessorIIII chip (SPIKES ON BACK)and looked at the old Pentium II SPIKES they were different then the new Processor chip had a 4 rows of Spikes in the Pentium II had 3 rows of SPIKES.WTF! I have bought this CHIP for now reason. This Win98 Was Custom Built is this the reason for no UPGRADE?
That's what you get when you don't properly inform yourself of hardware compatibilty. You should have checked to see if it was compatible before buying it, because let's be honest, with a chipset that old, the chances of it still being compatible with newer hardware is about 0.1 %
cannot put a p4 cpu into a p2/3 motherboard as not pin compatibile. is like trying to put a fighter jet engine into a honda civic which you can't do without a lot of work. cannot put an amd socket 462, 754, 939 or am2 cpu's into each other because of number of pins. same goes for intel socket 478 & 775 cpu's.
