I just got 50 new prodisc, dvd-r printables off ebay, and they seem fine, the first one worked out, but now i am getting an error at the start of the burning process, with DVD Shrink. I am wondering if there is something I can do to make these new discs work with my burner, which is a Sony dual layer, not sure the model (about 1.5 yrs old). I used Taiyo Yuden before this, and I think I had to configure those too, but i have no idea ho i did it. Someone here helped me. I would like to do something without wasting anymore discs tryin to burn, Thanks for your time...

    Ok, the Burn Error is:

Burn Process failed at 1x(1,385 KB/s)

then below, there is a long list of detailed errors i guess with the burner and the disc.... I cant copy/paste that list cuz its on a different computer without the internet, i will try later.

Your Nero is out of date, current version is 6.6.0.18. Your firmware is also out of date, current version is here:

    http://forum.rpc1.org/dl_firmware.php?download_id=1917

You shouldn't be multitasking when you are burning. Close all unneeded apps via task manager.

DO NOT use PROdisc. They are sucky bunch of sucks that ever sucked. It really is horrible media. Use either Taiyo Yuden or Verbatim. Sony and Fuji are fine so long as they are made in japan.

You better hope creaky doesn't see this or he'll give you a link with a one page response on it. It seems he has created a thread for every bad media out there.

As GlueEater pointed out, try updating your f/w and nero. I've had mixed results with prodisc media. When burned with my litey they would not play back on my set top dvd player and the scans were ugly (btw your sony is a rebadged lite-on) but when burned with my benq playback was fine and scans were good. Your sony drive is capable of booktyping dvd+r media to dvd-rom thus making them more compatable with set top players and I would therefor recommend useing dvd+r media and booktype them dvd-rom. I too would recommend useing better media in the future such as verbatum or taiyo yuden to avoid problems like what you are having. My media of choice is verbatum dvd+r hub printables. Looks like you could do with another 256 mb or 512 mb stick of memory also. Good luck, hope this helps.

BTW edit out your nero serial no in the log. It starts with 1A22

Ok, thanks a lot guys that was helpful info, I just wish I didnt waste my money on these Prodiscs. (Whats the best place to order printables Taiyo Yudens from?) Also, I am wondering what the best and safest way is to buy the new version of Nero...online? I would like to order both these things tonight, so I can use my new computer for burning (thats why im not using the other one, with the low memory, its pretty old too).

Good online stores to buy from are supermediastore.com, rima.com, meritline.com, and newegg.com. Compare prices between TY's and verbatum's. They are both top notch media. There is always a risk of getting fake TY media but very slim chance from the retailers I mentioned.

You don't need to buy the nero update just simply open nero then click on NERO in the upper left corner then check now then click on the green circles. Note: dont install INCD.
