Well I burned a movie on a prodisc x2 that plays well on my old old Toshiba sd-3109 player. It doesn't play on my Venturer (piece of crap player), which isn't surprising, since Ritek kinda skips on that player too. In some cases it's actually cheaper to get a new player than buy expensive dvd's lol! Anyway, prodisc is the deeper purple like Ritek that seems more compat with consoles.
At home I have only ever used BulkPaq Orange - Infosmart? not sure. Not had any issues with them on my Pioneer DVD, and they are dirt cheap £4.00 for 25! They do not like PS/2 though - lock up about 10-15 mins from the end on EVERY disk. Never used Princo. Ritek are rumoured to be the best - only ever use Ritek at work as they appear to be the most compatible when using different types of burners - and they tend to play back on almost anything. Ritek is usually the way to go if you wnat the best stab at getting a disk that will do what you want. And they aren't that expensive anymore.
To be honest that Pioneer Cert doesn't suprise me - Pioneer seem to burn anything - very compatible in my experience with a lot of diferent Media.
i have burned 100+ prodisc dvd-r white inkjet printable. i have had no burn errors. all my burns have played successfully in all my DVD-R compatible players. the surface prints great, and has a larger printable surface than the mitsui i had been using. also much cheaper. i use a pioneer A04 and the 4X LG.
Prodisc works great in my Pioneer A07 I've burned probably a couple hundred of these with maybe two coasters. I use the printable -Rs. When I don't want a hub printable I use Ritek G04 printable. I think that Ritek and Prodisk (-R) are comparable. I usually get slightly lower error rates on Kprobe with Ritek, but not enough to make a difference. I can't say how they work in otherbrands of DVD burners, though.
Prodisc is generally a good quality media, and their 4X DVD-R S03 media is comparable to Ritek's G04. On 8X -R however, beware. There are at least 3 media codes out there. F01, S04, and a Fuji. The F01 is good for pretty much every drive, the S04 is no-go on the Pioneer 107, and the Fuji is no good on Sony 7xx series drive. Unfortunately, life's like a box of chocolates....
I just received an order from supermediastore.com for 50 Prodisc -R 8X and 50 -R 4X. I didn't want to put all my eggs in one basket since I hadn't used the 8X before. I was really surprised to find the media code for the 8X was MCC 02RG20 and the 4X was MCC 01RG20. I have a few Verbatim -R 4X and the media code on them is also MCC 01RG20. I burned one of the 8X at 8X and the Kprobe scan looked pretty decent. I haven't tried one of the 4X yet, but I imagine they'll be good. I sure hope Prodisc keeps doing this. It's like getting Verbatim for Prodisc prices. Incidentally, they look exactly like the Prodisc S03 that I've been using. I'd just like to add, don't forget to check out newegg.com. Not as big on selection, but a lot of their stock is the same price with free or cheap FedEx shipping that usually manages to get on the airlines and you get it in a day or two (if you're in the US).

Does anyone knows if and what other brands of DVD-Rs use the Prodisc S03 dye? Also where can I find Prodisc branded DVD-R (with logo on top surface) ?
I used prodisc -r 4x from nationalaudiocompany... first 100 were fine.. so I ordered 50 more.. nothing but problems - 50% success rate if I'm that lucky.. the burn goes through, but when I try to watch them on my sony vaio laptop.. I get cyclic redundancy error.. anybody know what this error is from?
