I am new to the DVD ripping world and have been perusing this site for a couple days. I just bought and LG 4x burner and have produced 1 coaster and 2 Soundless copies of T3 so far.

I have used DVD Decrypter and DVD Shrink 2.3, 3.0 beta to rip the data and Nero 6.0.0.9 and CopyToDVD to burn the disks.

Not sure what I am doing wrong, there is sound during the Menus at the beginning, but as soon as the sound starts—poof all gone.

    My specs are
    AMD 2500 Barton
    MSI KT3 Ultra 2
    2 40 gig Maxtor’s in Raid 0
    ATI 9600 Pro
    768 Crucial

Any ideas what I am doing wrong? The weird thing is, when I switch Audio Channels on my Stand-alone DVD Player- I can hear the Director chatting about the movie, along with Arnold chatting about the film.

Well It seems you have chosen the Wrong Audio Track when useing DVD shrink...You should Choose the First English Dolby 5.1 Audio Track, It seems you have chosen the Directors comments as your Audio Track..You should also get a Couple DVD-RW"s so you don"t ruin so many DVD-R"s at this rate you could allmost Buy the Original DVD.....

    Hope it works—

How can I double-check it before I burn it?

    Thanks

If you have a software DVD Player Like WinDVD or PowerDVD then you can Basicly Drag and Drop the Video_TS Folder onto the Player and it should Play..Anyone who does any Video work should have a Software DVD player Installed Cuz programs Like Media Player do not Display Mpeg files Properly as they Ignore aspect ratio Flags....

OK, it plays fine off of my PC in Windows media Player only- Not the DivX player 2.1 I tried- Sound is a mix between the Director voice and the movie in Spanish-

Clone DVD will not burn and Resize the files, so I am back to square 1 :((>

You said you had all of the english tracks checked and all the french unchecked. I am using dvdshrink 3.0beta, and after I uncheck french, I also go through and change the video to still pictures for the extras folder.

Nero should be fine. It's what I've used. Click on make a dvd video, and then add all of the files you made with dvd shrink.

I realize you said you did this once, but try it again, and see how it works out. Make sure in dvd shrink, that you have the dvd folder on the left hand side highlighted before you uncheck anything on the right hand side. If you leave all of the checked items on automatic, it will compress enough for a 4.7 dvd-/+r.

I'm running it once more to see if it has any snafus.

    Good Luck

I used DVD Shrink 3.0 beta to rip the Entire movie- 6.9GB to the disk—then Clone DVD did the rest by making is iso. then burning it.

    That makes sense?

Yes, it makes sense, but did you compress the files from dvd shrink? I havn't used clonecd, although I understand it to be an excellent product, I am using Nero Express 6.0.0.6, and just using the dvd burning tool. According to what you've said, you should have a workable repro, but for some reason you aren't getting the dolby sound. If dvd shrink is set to auto when you do your back up to the HD, then it should compress it enough to fit on a 4.7 without removing any files, sound, video...

This is what I have done- and it works great so far.

I ripped the entire disk (no Compression) with Shrink 3.0.
Used Clone DVD to create an iso. on my HD of the proper size to fit on the disk so that only the Movie was on the disk- no menus or extras.
Then used CloneDVD again to burn the iso. to the DVD disk.
But it sounds like I am taking an extra step- still?

Nero did not work for me and I know it is User error- thanks!
I will give Nero another shot when I get some DVD-RW

    Thanks for all your help!

It sounds like you have an excellent grasp on how all of this works. Before we figured out dvd shrink, my teacher said the process was as many as 4 or 5 steps, and could take upto 24 hours to encode a single DVD.

The most important thing is to be able to get the results you want, no matter how long and/or how many steps it takes. "Whatever Works" is my motto.

    Good Luck
