I have a lot of mpeg1 video files that i want to join and edit. What free programs are out there that ye can recommend to perform these editing tasks?
I have virtualdub but this will only edit mpeg2 files with the plug-in. I would appreciate some help in finding programs that others have found to perform these editing tasks successfully.
I tried some free programs, but could never find one that was easy to use. If the files you have to edit are small, less than 30 minutes you might want to try the demo of videoredo plus, the demo will edit and save up to 30 minute clip max. You can probably finish editing all your files before the trial expires. Also womble mpegvcr has a demo you can use. I actually own the womble mpegvcr and used it to cut out commercials on mpeg1 videos. It worked like a champ in that area. I eventually migrated to videoredo plus. The only reason I like both the above programs is because they do all the editing without reencoding the video. Mpeg1 files are low quality to began with, if you have a editing program that reencodes, it'll look worst than the original.
