It's pretty hard, If the DVD has trouble playing, right out of the gate, we're in hot water to start, doesn't take too much more to make the water boil Sorry couldn't help, I'm out of ideas - Pete
It's cool scuba , i'm gonna fart around with this thing some more when i have the time if i can get it goin i'll holla at ya.
ScubaPete, I am sorry about the PM. I was very flustered. Please accept my apologies. ScubaPete & Co., I seem to be running into problems with scarface anniversary edition. The backup went just fine. I do believe that there are some minor imperfections on the disc. When I tried to use DVDshrink I ran into problems, but then I used your method of forcing decryption and it made an iso w/o a problem. (I did tick remove PUOs (4) in IFO Read and IFO Mode.. Is that correct?) But when I went back to open the ISO it would not let me open it because of an unexpected error. Then I tried again reading the image with decrypter reset in all default mode... Again it created an ISO, but when I try to open it up to compress it with dvdshrink I get: Invalid UDF file system. Any suggestions before cleaning the disc with my disk cleaner and using the ice and vodka method? Thanks again. As always.
Westend, I assume you went to "File" and selected "Open disc image" when in DVD Shrink - Also you might try ISOBuster, it's a pretty good proggy and works when some others fail - http://www.smart-projects.net/isobuster/ Then you can use most any proggy to take the VOB files and burn them to disc. Let's see how that works and let me know . . . . Pete
Scuba Pete, I got the isobuster to open up the large 7.7 ISO just fine. I don't really know what I am doing, but trying to figure it out.. In isobuster there are two main folders one is the red ISO folder and the other a green UDF folder. They both contain audio and video files and they appear to be identical except for a win folder and other stuff. I extracted one of them to an open area and created a audio_ts and video_ts folders. Within the audio_ts there was nothing and the video_ts folder contains the dvd movie files, backup files of the ifos, and dvd movie info files. I am not sure what those files mean (??), but I figure that the dvd movie files are the meat (audio and video.. because I can play them on the computer - similar to .mpg files). Even when I try to just take only the dvd movie files 0-8 they total 7.7 Gigs. I don't know what VOB files mean(?). Is there a way to shrink them down? I know that I can use nero to make a video dvd with the video_ts files, but they are combined over 7.7 gigs. I guess I could just cut it up into 2 discs fitting whatever I will fit on one and copy the remaining files to the 2 disc. Is there a way to shrink or condense them? Much Thanks as always.
Wow.. i almost completely forgot about this thread..lol But any ways Scuba i got that troublesome wrestlemania dvd to rip finally. woohoo!, How i ask myself?? but this came to be after some serious hardware changes, heck i rebuilt my entire computer lol. Compare my sigs from my previous posts to this one there is a difference. Just thought i'd let ya know scuba.
I backed up Scarface with using DVDSHRINK all i had to do was go to unreferenced material and replace the Un?VERSAL studios with a still image and it was a perrfect back up.
FartDude, I'm glad that your problem has been solved. As they say my friend, Burn on . . . . (ya did have me wondering though, hadn't heard from you for a while Pete Hi westend, You're doing OK so far . . . Go to the Shrink / Decrypter guide in my sig and follow everything except - where it says "Open Disc", you click "Open File" and point it to your VIDEO_TS folder. Don't worry about the AUDIO_TS folder it is supposed to be empty All will be fine. Follow the guide exactly and that 7.7GB movie will be very happy on a single disc Cheers, Pete
