Im not so sure. It only says on the box:4x I tried it at first with platinum dvd+r and i wasnt able do burn at lower speed. I the found out that it only said 4x on the disc so i tried it on a 1x/2x/4x verbatim disc, I have no ps2 to test it on i just wanted so see if i could burn the game itself. Ive heard that some new burners can only burn at a set speed (4x for me i guess). I admit i think it sounds strange too, but i cant set the speed lower. (tried nero & alcohol 120%, downloaded prassi primo with the update but that did nothing for me.) The "cant set another speed" problem bothers me as hell though. Id like help with it. Jus didnt want to be a nag and bring it all down on you guys at once
Give us a proper name on the dvd-r and atleast I could do some snoopin... Didnt it include a manual, check the errorsection. Or try to mail Aopen support. Yours Herb
Its a AOpen DVD+R/RW/CD-R/RW Drive DRW4410 Like this: http://www.everythinglinux.com.au/item/bfAOP90100?elinux=07d885e14a9ea0d257679e59d6125dd5 I got it for christmas so its a new one. If that helps. Ive searched the forum regarding the model, but no one else seems to use it. Which worries me a bit. It only burns dvd+r/+rw I have a good hunch it will do the job though, but sometimes hunches lie Maybe i could bring a couple of backups to the chip-chop and they could try them out for me. That way i would be sure it works.
[bold] kelesis, have you try to use record now? you can easily change the speed in the OPTIONS menu. if that doesnt work for you, just go buy 1x dvd-r and when you burn them, it will automatic burn at 1x cause thats the max speed it can burn.
I use Ritek 4.7g 2.4x DVD+r's w/ swap magic v3 on a ps2 v7 and they work great. I have also used Ritek 4.7g 1-4x DVD-r's but no the results vary. Most burned on dvd-r's arent that great ( LOTR Twin Towers bad audio it keeps looping ).
[bold] i burned Two Towers with a dvd-r and it didnt havin any problems. i think your problem is that you're burnin too fast.
Hey I thought I would be good to put the info I collected on dvd+r and dvd-r here so all of you don't have to look for it for thousands of years. Some of it, the most interesting part actually, I got it from this site. So here we go... Concerning the ps2, it reads dvd-r from v1 to v10 but, dvd+r are readable only with v5 and up.. I bought my dms3 modchip before knowing all this :\.. I have a hp dvd+r writer and a v4 ps2 lol. That's why I'm writing this post actually. Ok then here's something I found here in the glossary section, dvd+r are apparently more advanced than -r. And from what I read, there will be double layer dvd+r 8.5 gig. That won't happend with dvd-r. But those dvd+r will only get out somewhere this year and the old dvd+r writers won't support them only the new ones.. That's what I read. So come on you all support dvd+r and to hell with dvd-r! lol. Do what you want with this and I hope I helped some of you.
[bold]Cyclonick, the double sided 9.4gb dvd-r is already out. you can check here http://meritline.com/accu-dvd-r-media-94-jewel-case.html
stun611, I meant double layered not double sided.. only dvd+r will be double layered.. according to the info I got in the glossary on this site
the difference between double sided and double layer discs is a double layer disc has two layers on one side of the disc(as in most comercial dvd movie discs dvd-9)and at the moment no double layer burners are avalible(but are in the process of being developed at the moment)a double sided disc has has a recorcing surface on both sides(like sticking two dvdr discs together top to top
Thought id just return with my results. As i said before i have a cheap burner that writes only to dvd+r/+rw. (exact model described somewhere above) I use nero 6 and so far i have burned backups to verbatim & platinum discs at 4x speed. I have had no problems so far. I mean NO problems whatsoever. All games work fine, no choppy movies, no audio problems, no nothing. Im a happy man Thanks to all. Thanks herbman and the rest of you as well. I was kinda worried at first if anything would work, and now everything does.
