    Hi Guys,

I made a backup of Prince of Persia - Warrior Within and although it loads with Swap Magic 3.3, the movie is jerky and looks as though PS2 takes time to slowly load it. My other original games for SOCOM etc work fine and so does my copy of Ghost Recon (very slight delay here).

Does anyone know the solution/reason as to why is my backup of POP2 now working properly?

Also, lots of people advise burning the game at 1x burner speed which is not correct since the burner speed doesn't make any difference in the game (data is the same whatever rate you burn at) as long as you burn at the rate specified in the DVD-R and burner.

    @ Cloud
You're trying to play a PAL game on an NTSC system. It looks like that because they're incompatible. You either need to edit your PAL .iso file with a PAL to NTSC converter, or get SwapMagic v3.3. I think SM v3.3 can convert it to play right.

Question for those brains out there:

I am using a new Slim v.12 PS2, less than 2 weeks old.

I have Swap Magic 3.3 DvD/CD's for my 'Modchip'.

I have backups of PS2 DvD games on 1x speed burnt (Nero 6.3 version, burn to image, then to DvD-R).

DvD-R Movies that have been backedup (using DvD Shrink) all work just fine.

The backups load not at all, or in the rare loading cases, take about 4-8 minutes to load the first screen. After this first load, the average load time is 4-6 minutes per screen. When these ites do load, the video is staggering at about 1-2 FPS.

    What's wrong do you think?

I can tell you you are wrong. If you burn 1x or 40x makes a huge difference. Specially if your drive is not designed to read 40x.
The Playstation CD drive is designed to read printed media, not burned media, of course the data is the same but how the laser reads that data is different. Even if you burn the SAME image at 1x with two different burners you most likelly will get a difference in sector division.
The laser of the ps2 is very impresive it is able to dynamically change to an offset position while readinf DVDs and CDs (it will read badly scratched original PS1/2 games much better than any CD/DVD drive on your PC) Since burning at higher speeds can change the layout of the disc due to the multi speed factor, (when you burn 8x you'll notice that it starts with 8x and ends with about 1,4x because the radius of a DVD increases as it reaches the end)
I strongly recommend BURNING AT 1x (except if you own a stealth drive that does no write speed changes while burning at 2x or 4x)
I recommend using DVD Decrypter to backup your DVD game. Because it saves sector location and track annomalities from the DVD that need to be at the exact same spot on the DVD you're about to burn.
Why? Because of the cut-scenes and mvs sequences rely on that. If intros move choppy and screens take long to load it's because the data is not alocated where it is supposed to be.
For a 100% backup you need more than just 1 ISO file
if you use DVD Decrypter it will create 2 files. NEVER load the ISO. load the other file for a 100% backup.I use Alcohol to burn.
Advanced mods like DMS and such don't need the disk to be 100% copy. SwapMagic DOES! (at least if you don't want to mess with CD/DVD loaders)

I may also add that while the PS2 is able to read DVDRW media to playback movies it will most likelly not play ANY DVDRW media to play games.

Why? Because in game mode the laser is further away from the disc and therefore has problems reading the DVDRW media. You may be able to get around that by adjusting the laser screw, if you dare to.

    grr
u guys should have just looked on google

    now turn it

"On V1-V4 playstation laser assemblies there is a visible white cog (pictured below) that enables you to adjust the angle or height of the sled as the lens moves to the outer edge of the disk. This adjustment is also known as the Radial Skew. As the laser gets old or worn - it may help to adjust this to bring the lens closer to the disk. V5 to V10 lasers also have the cogs, but they are not as obvious.

    To perform this adjustment:
    1) Eject the tray so that it is out of the way.
    2) Mark the original position of the cog with a black marker pen.
    3) To raise the sled adjust anti-clockwise
    4) Only adjust one or two clicks at a time
    5) After each adjustment test with both CD and DVD media.
    6) Repeat until desired improvement occurs.
    7) If no improvement - set back to original position. "

here is my problem, attemting too refresh my TOC on a ps2 slimline console using swap magic version 3.6,when swap magic boots i open the fliptop lid and it says insert bigger toc disk, now when i insert an ORIGINAL ps2 game and close the lid it says not a valid ps2 game and the disk keeps spinning,i do use the magic swich tools aswell and it keeps telling me the disk isnt a ps2 game, the disk is perferct(no scratches) and all other games work so it aint the laser, anybody know what it could be or have run into this problem please let us know the solution, cheers
