figured i'd ask her b/c not really a gaming question. Being at college my PS2 is my only source of a dvd player. It is one of the older ps2, just wondering if there are certain blank media that the ps2 will read so i can play movies on it. I currently have burned memorex and fuji and the ps2 does not read the disk I did a search b4 i posted but found nothing on this. Are there specific blank media disk ps2 will read such as sony or verbatim? and do they have to be Plus or negative media? Thanks
hi most ps2's prefer dvd-r although some ps2's will not read either dvd- or dvd+ (especially the older ones) if you have any sony or verbatim is is always worth trying to see if it works, if it doesnt then i would say your ps2 will not read dvdr. my advice would be to get a stand alone dvd player as you dont want to wear your laser out watching movies, i know you are at college & sometimes these things are expensive, but walmart or target sell dvd players for $30.00 nowadays & might be worth the investment. anyway being at college just ask your folks to buy it for you lol tell them it will be cheaper than having to buy you a replacement ps2 laser in a few months time lol good luck i hope this helped you
Those older ps2s are very picky. I've run into a couple of them that won't play both my dash and booktyped dvds. Some ps2s are picky like some stand alone players. They may prefer a certain format,or even backups from a certain burner drive. What's the brand name and model# of your dvd-rw drive? What's the brand name, format, and speed rate of your blank media? If whatever format your ps2 won't recognize from your burner, try the opposite format. I suggest the same as gjl2002. Get you an el-cheapo player. They'll usually play anything you slap in them. It'll also save you some wear and tear on your ps2. Some of these players like the wal-mart special magnavox and $23 Odd Lots symphonic will play everything:Single layer/plus/dash/Dual layer/Crappy media/with the exception of poor quality burners.
