if you have not been following this thread

    http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/147422

I am going to explain just what this is.

I wanted to be able to put SNES station AND HDD loader on ONE cd. And be able to leave this cd in my ps2 all the time. This way I could play snes when I wanted OR load PS2 games from my HDD whenever I wanted. Being lazy I didnt like swapping discs between my HDD loader one and my SNES disc. And since Snes cant be run from the HDD I couldnt just put it on there and play it.

So what I did was made a boot cd. It uses a program called LAUNCHELF as the GUI. So it boots into that. Then I can press one of ANY of the buttons on the ps2 controller to load the app that I want. This is very similar to KEYLOADER with the exception being that you cant boot keyloader off a CD unless you have a .DAT file in your MC. I wanted something I can run entirely off a CD so I didnt have to waste space on my MC for this stuff.

I finally got a CD together that was working. It became obvious to me that other people also wanted such a CD, so I tried to explain how to do it. It seemed difficult for most people to put it all together. So instead I made a full CD ready to go. All you have to do is download the CD, then follow the install instructions. Then if you want to play Snes, Geneses or Sega you just throw your roms into the correct folder and off you go.

If anyone wants the CD you can get it from here

If you have any questions about it you can use the comment form on that site to ask. Otherwise you can post it here.

It seems some people have a hard time with SM booting my disc. Make sure you have the latest version of my CD. It should have a DUMMY file on it. If you dont have adummy file then try downloading it again. If you do have a dummy file then try it a couple more times.

I do not have SM so I cant test it myself with it, so I can only know what people tell me works or doesnt. Since I have fixed it you are the first person with SM that has told me it is not working.

Update for anyone that wanted to put this on DVD instead. It has come to my attention that it is possible to run this on a DVD. So if you need the space for more roms and such then you can do it. Here is how

Open Nero burning rom (I dont use express so these instructions will not
use it). Start a new compilation.
    4. Make sure you select dvd in the drop menu, it may say cd now but chage
    it.
    5. Scroll down all the way and select Dvd-Rom (UDF/ISO).
    6. On the mutisession tab select no multisession.
    7. On the ISO tab make sure there are no check marks in any of the boxes,
(there is one that is greyed out that says allow more than 64 charecters,
    dont worry about this).
    8. Still on the ISO tab file name length should be max of 11 = 8 + 3chars
    Iso level 1
    9. Still on ISO tab charecter set should be iso 9660 (standard iso cd rom)
    10. Next under UDF tab UDF partion type should be Physical Partition
    11. Still inder UDF tab file system version should be UDF 1.02
    12. Leave force dvd-video compatability uchecked
    13. Under the label tab make up a name for you compilation
    14. Dates tab leave it alone it doesnt matter
    15. Misc tab make sure each box has a check mark
    16. Burn tab, if it is going to be less than s gigs burn at your slowest
speed, otherwise dont worry too much
    17. Hit the new button
    18. Browse to the BOOT CD folder that you unpacked using winrar and put all the files and folders in
there just the way they are
    19. Hit burn
    20. Sit back and wait

I have tested this myself and am sure that it works. All the emulators seem to work as well. So now you can have all that space that some people have requested.

Note that I have 500 mb of roms on my boot cd and I have run out of games to get for Snes, Genesis and the Sega master system. So I am not sure how people are filling an entire CD and still needing more space, but there you go anyway.

I just tried it now by linking directly to it from the link above, as well as my bookmarked link. It seems to be working fine. Try it again.

Hey Stinky! Great work on this CD. Question...Why do I have to re-configure every time I boot? How do I store the key assignments? Thanks.

you need to have a memory card in slot 1 of the ps2. Make sure there is at least 15kb of space on it. Then if you notice there is "corrupted data" on the MC of about 12 kb do NOT erase it. That is the saved configuration for launchelf.

You can also make your own config file for it and burn it onto the disc when you make it. I have never tried it but supposedly it supports it.

DO a search for the launchelf main website. I think they had some info on there about it. Otherwise it may have been a forum I read it on (not htis one) I know launchelf has been a hard program to find, and to find any info about. I am not sure why when it is the best homebrew booting app for the frickin PS2!!

Just searched out launchelf on yahoo. I went through the first 3 pages with no useful info at all on the stupid thing.

It kinda makes you wonder how I even found out about this program!? Glad I did, but I wish whoever deved it would make a site to get some info out on it. I cant even seem to find an official website for the program. I suspect it originally came from PS2-dev.org I got it from SKAPPS.com (not sure if thats right but its close) He has TONS of ps2 apps on there. I just tried them all out and then put the most usefull ones on my cd.

As a side note I thought I had a counter on my new download site but must have missed adding it. In searching for the launchelf info I found that my old site for the boot cd was still running (must have forgot to turn it off) When I abandonded the site 1 month ago I had the counter reading 200 hits. Now one month later THAT site is reading 2009 hits!!! It makes me wish I had of set the counter up on the new site, since that is the only one I am linking too. So I guess there are other sites that are linking to my old site.

Oh well time to set it up to reditrect.

I can't find it either. This sucks. I don't even have a readme file. Damnit! What version of LaunchELF is on your boot cd?

Do you have a readme besides the one you created?

you are lucky just to have the one I created. The original program was JUST the .elf file. And no instructions at ALL on how to use it.

This program could be great if they had documentation to support it.

On a side note, I did find a patch for HDloader that allows it to read dual layer iso's, reportedly they have got GT4 to work with this as well. That is where my new efforts are going!
