Stinky....I am sad that you aren't going to address my issue. Also, I am getting page not found. Is it a different URL now?

Weird cause I've been to his link. Also I've tested it on a cd-r with selected roms, limited b/c of space, then after trying it with dvd+R I realized my PS2 wouldnt read them, so I went out bought some dvd-r's and it worked perfectly. 1.7 gigs of roms!!!!!

Like i said Stinky, always true to my promises :D Through playing with my mc for a bit, i actually came by this by accident. When setting up my mc for hdl_dump, i had to create a SYS-CONF folder to put my ipconfig.dat into. When i did this, and then loaded your cd, it saved it into that directory. This is where launchelf gets its settings :D Thanks again

So, basically, if I create another directory inside the BOOT CD directory called SYS-CONF and put my edited launchelf.cnf in there and then burn the cd, it should load my config every time? Thoughts?

u don't even need to put it in there, if htere isn't one, it will create one and save on exit.

I understand what you are saying, but I am an installer and I need to make a config for launchelf that can be saved to the cd so that it is always the same no matter what. Does that make sense? People don't usually give me a memory card when I mod their system.

yo stinky after some serious reading and a few attempts
your cd works but more impressivly is the dvd works frickin awesome
i put all my snes roms(backups) around 720 or so and sega master system roms(backups)300 i believe--
and sega genesis roms(backups) like 400 all on one dvd plus i made a folder for 5 divx movies and an mp3 folder with 100 songs
and the dvd loaded and read all the roms perfectly havent tried the mp3,or divx but just the hdloader, files and emulators working perfect is enough to say your a genious
where do i send the cash) i use a swap magic version 2 with a non soldier chip that opens the ps2 disctray for like 5 sec without the ps2 nowing it has been opened--so hence the swap can happen

its awesome to have all those roms and stuff on a dvd that loads
the only thing i was wondering if its possible to do
is go back to your menu from the other programs or emus u no back to your main screen--but im assuming that would be a programming job for every program in there-

also how come we cant load or put a nes emulator on there if everything else works--i have itmightbenes on a cd and it works on ps2-- so how about it made genious

    many thanks from a newbee----

i meant mad genius--------also i no that having a swap disc deafeats your purpose but to some of us i honestly dont no how to buy a mod chip and soldier it in ---so the swap type slide trick or button thing is easier

but again many thanks your akways true to your word about being there for people--------my heart man you got my heart--lol
    again thanks

Mikey, I never even though about putting the divx movies and a whole lotta mp3's on the boot disc as well. Maybe I will add a couple more folders for those so others will think of this too. That is a VERY good idea.

Everyone, if you are seeing my newest site you should see a grey, red and white theme. Anyone that wanted to donate to the "cause" will notice that I added a paypal donate button at the top of every page. Every little bit helps. Especially since I think I may hit the bandwidth limit with my free webspace and have to get some other space.

Synapse, I added winhiip to the files found on the cd, I beleive it does lan transfer as well. I find it to be slow though and my PS2 is connected through a shared wireless connection to my laptop. So I am not really sure what my PS2's IP even is. ALso you should be able to put the ipconfig.dat file right on the CD and have it load it off there. You may need to make that folder you were talking about first.

Mikey (again), I did not add itmightbenes because of some serious slow down issues with it on the better games. I wanted it only to be able to play excitebike and the mario series. But I have mario all stars on the snes so they are better there. Plus it plays great when you change the sound settings to mono instead of sterio. Once Itmightbenes is improved enough that it works better I will look at adding it, that is why a lot of apps are left out. There is no reason at all why you could not add the .elf file for it to your cd though and make a folder for NES roms as well. SOunds like you should know how to do that just fine.

For now that is all you guys are going to get. I was just too excited about FINALLY being able to play GT4 off the HDD! It loads so much faster. ALso a note that I did not include on the boot disc. If you are transfering GT4 or ANY other dual layer game to the HDD you HAVE to use the version of winhiip that I included with the cd. Otherwise you need a "special" patched version of HDL_DUMB. If you use ANY other program or version your game will NOT work. Some people have succesfully LAN'ed it over but said it was VERY slow. I included winhiip because it is the most user freindly, and I dont like messing with command prompt stuff. Especially when I could format my whole hard drive by accident by typing one wrong letter.

Hope you guys enjoy the disc and let me know if you have any other requests.

Oh, about the resetting to Launchelf once inside a different app. Unfortunatly that is a coding issue that I am not prepared to take on. And I really doubt it could be done anyway. Once you are in the new app you would need to add the command to reset the system on a certain button push combo. Plus if you are in HDLOADER and load into a PS2 game I would NEVER be able to code a reset switch into those. So you still have to get off the couch to hit reset when its time for a new game.

On that note though I have been looking at making my own remote reset switch that I would attach to my PS2 controller. I would run 2 wires along the controller cord (externally) and then make a quick connect on the ps2. Then internally (on the ps2) I would run them to the reset button. This way you can be on the couch and hit your remote reset and boot back into launchelf. This would be the ULTIMATE lazy mans tool. You would never have to get up unless nature called. But then you could always put the tv in the bathroom and sit there with your pants down. And then you REALLY would never need to get up!!

But thats a topic for another day.

Minor Update performed on the site now. I changed it from being called a "BOOT CD" to "ALL IN ONE PS2 DISK". Hopefully people will stop thinking this is a swap magic type disk now.

I also made a quick CD label as well as a DVD case insert. They are packed in the new .rar file. So if you download the new one the pics should be in there with it. Now it will look sort of like a real item.

As usual let me know if you find any problems or things that are not clear. I gotta go to bed now, I work tonight again at 7 till 7.

oh just a thought, but would there be anyway to play PS1 games off the HD? ive been able to get them on the HD easily but they wouldnt play, at least with HD loader. i was wondering if this disk would allow you to play the PS1 games. i dont have any with me right now so i have no way to test it.

Stinky...did you put the latest version of LaunchELF on the new disk image?

There is no way to play PS1 games from the hdd that I know of.

I knew I forgot something. I will check right now what the newest version is and see if thats whats on there. I am pretty sure it is the newest version already.

The version of launchelf that was on the disk was either 3.4b or 3.4b2

I just updated to the final release of 3.4. It supposedly has a couple fixes on it so this may solve your guys' problem of it not saving the menu file to your MC.

It looks like this is not going to be updated anymore for a while so what you have on here now for launchelf is all you get.

Hey stinky thx for this allinone cd/dvd its a jewel. I was wondering how I would get a nes emulator on it. I notice that all the appz on the disc are in .elf extension and im assuming this is the same as a .exe on a normal pc.

I was wondering how I would convert a nes emulator into these .elf files?

    Regards,

    Sam

Okay I officially give up. The config never saves. Not to the mc and putting the LAUNCHELF.CNF on the disk in both the root and a subdir called SYS-CONF has no affect. I'm going to just stick with seperate disks for different apps. This blows!!!
