How can I mod my PS2 so I can play games off an external HDD?
Please provide step-by-step guides and links. Thank you.

Yes, you can play games off of a USB hard drive. However, most games will not work, and the ones that do will take forever to load (cutscreens take about 3-4x as long as reading from the disk, movies are unwatchable). You can use a softmod to load USBadvance, or you can buy a copy of USBextreme to do the job.

If you have a fatline PS2, you can use a SATA->ATA converter, and connect that to a ESATA port (you have to do a custom install for this port). Once you have done that, the exteranl ESATA drive will act as the internal drive used to, and you can play most games using HDloader.
