Hello, I will try to help a little here. If you solved this, perhaps this will help someone else. Check that nothing is blocking the disc tray Check that the motor drive belt is in good condition. It may appear to work, but it could be worn. If the belt is ok, Check the clamper lever is working well. This is a white plastic lever located below the disc tray. You can slide it with your finger (left and right) it lowers and raises the tray and locks the tray closed/open It could be off track/ broken/misaligned or blocked. Check the tabs on the sides of the loading tray that they are working too and not worn.
i am not trying to be rude but it feels like you didnt read the whole thread, i have fully and completely ruled out the drive, i tried a drive from another console and had the same issue, i tried another power/eject and cable for it from a working console and still had the same issue, to anyone else who reads IT IS NOT THE DISC DRIVE I HAVE FULLY RULED IT OUT, PLEASE!!!!!!!! READ MY OTHER POSTS IN THIS THREAD AND DONT POST SAYING ITS THE DRIVE.
Since I'm the only other responder besides drklrd1 and we talked about about the other drive also not working early on, I'm not sure who you're directing your last comment at.
no offense taken, I did read your post, however I missed the part that the drive works fine in another console. The problem may be in the connector port below the drive unit that the green, yellow and red wires connect to. Try using compressed air to blow out possible dust, You can check for looseness of the connector port too
not sure which wires you mean, but i have already scrubbed the connectors with ipa and compressed air and nothing
not yet while waiting for it to come in the mail i ended up getting a 3d printer so that has taken up a lot of my time, also i have had a hard time finding the points i need to solder to
no, i have had issues with my 3d printer so been working on that and i still havent been able to find where i need to solder wires to on the main board to use the adapter board to see whats going on and also been working from home
Hi, very same problem here. Really don't know what could be. The fact you tried a working drive and had the problem totally exclude drive problems. Maybe motherboard connector contacts? Please let me know should you find a solution. Thanks
Most likely the mobo is the issue since the drive does work . Cheaper to get another fat The dvd drive in the one your working on doesn't need a drive. Just soft mod it get the adapter & never use the dvd again. There is a guy that has the ps2 sata adpater to mod the sony network adapter to allow a sat hdd. It works great. Fat PS2 can be upgraded to an over 500gb drive & up to 2tb i think or was it 1tb, can't remember. However you will need to go to retrozone to get instructions as the over 500gb has some extra steps in the softmod
