    1. Q. How do I burn PS2 games?
    A. Use DVD Decrypter. Guide: http://www.angelfire.com/games6/easytutorial/dvddec/dvddec.html Burn at 4x on an 8x DVD-R.

    2. Q. Does the type of media I use matter?
    A. YES: http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/3/240341
If you're too lazy to read, use Taiyo Yuden, Verbatim, Ritek, Sony, TDK, Maxell, Sony or Phillips DVD-R's. Avoid Memorex, Staples, Imation, Dynex, Princo, Bulqpaq, etc.

    3. Q. Do I need some type of mod to play PS2 backups or imports?
    A. Yes you need a modchip: http://teammodders.com/ps2_mc.php?ex=2 Swap Magic: http://swapmagic3.com/ Memory Card Exploit (Doesn't work with v.11 PS2 and later): http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/109289 HD Loader: http://www.hdloader.com.au/hardinstall#prepare or

Is it a CD based game? Watch the all caps messages, they're a quick way to get banned.

    38. Q. How do I know if a PS2 game is CD-ROM based or DVD-ROM based?
    A. If it's an original, check the back of the box. If it's a backup, check here: http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/30641

    14. Q. How do I burn PS2 CD-ROM based games?
    A. Use Alcohol 120%. Open Alcohol 120%. Insert the disk you wish to create the image from in your CD-ROM drive. Click image making wizard. Set the read speed to 1x, check ignore read errors, fast skip error blocks, set the write Method to DAO/SAO, select your recorder, set the write speed to 4x, and set the datatype to PS2. Click next. Once the image is created, right click it and go to image burning wizard. Set the write speed to 4x, the write method to DAO/SAO, the data type to PS2, and select your recorder, click next.

DVD Decryptor will[bold] read/write [/bold]a DVD, it will [bold]WRITE ONLY[/bold] to a CD based disk and not read one. you'll have to use a different program to get your ISO file off CDs, and might as well use that same program to write them.

for CD based games it's hard to beat CloneCD using ClonyXXL settings.
you simply scan the original with ClonnyXXL, click to launch CloneCD with settings and hit the copy button. with two good drives you can burn on the fly at 4 min per disk.

[bold]KC36330[/bold], DVD decrypter does write to CD with only an .ISO file and not needing bin/cue/img. Thanks. Burned it at 10X & the PSX game runs great.

are you talking about an NEC burner?
I have heard good things from people who have them.
    They say they are great.

yes, all you need is the ISO for DVD Decrypter to write to a CD.

under 'Tools' 'Settings' on the 'ISO Write Mode' tab, select CD for 'Write Mode', it should work in 'Auto' but i always select CD for CDs and DVD for DVDs

Yeah I use Alcohol 120% for CD games, or Scratched to hell PS2 rentals. It just made an image from a copy of Predator: Concrete Jungle that looked like it was drug through a war zone. Yeah I don't know if your referring to NEC Burners or media, I've never heard of NEC making media. NEC Burners are supposed to be okay, I know little about them.

2 problems there.. imation is crap media and ps2's don't like RW's... get a good high quality media like taiyo yuden, verbatim, ritekg04 or g05, tdk, maxell or sony in dvd-r format with a certified speed of 8x and burn at 4x.

sometimes a PS2 will just play one better than the other.
No real reason why as anything above a V4 will play both.
But i have tried +R and i never get great results with them.
Others will swear that they are the best, but not for me.
DVD-R 8X is what i use all the time, and both of my PS2's and my Xbox
read them with no problems at all.
Like i do all my games on -R, but did a lot of movies on +R
I have since switch to doing everything on -R and have not had
    a problem at all.

I'll personally say that I make two backups of games. One to archive & one to play. For archiving it's Maxxell 4X "RITEKG05" (since I never touch them; they're stored in a cool, dark place) and I'm ok since I bought 200 for $20. Taiyo Yuden is what I place the games on. I've seen ppl write DVD-R & DVD+R at 2X; played exactly the same. Never had to worry about booktyping or anything else. the process: It's as easy as popping in the DVD-/+R, launching DVD Decrypter w/all default settings. Changing it to ISO > Write mode. Selecting the .ISO file, clicking the speed to the lowest the media & DVD Burner can support. Finally, clicking that big button with the Hard Drive & DVD on it. [bold]It's really that easy.[/bold]
