So if I was buy a 120gb Maxtor Hard Drive and the network adapter all I would have to do is plug them into my ps2, or do i have to plug the HD into my computer and use the lan? And do i need a modchip to boot games saved to my HD if i have HDAdvance? Does anyone have a link to a really good tutorial on this? -Kwik Kaos
This issue isn't as confusing as the newbies allow it to be - everyone wants all the answers right away, without any research. Decide what you want the HD for - if you want it for use under the PS2 operating system (ie. gamesave storage, online gaming ect) - get the official Sony HDD and be done with it. The HDD WILL NOT detect a modchip, which is a bunch of BS. IF you want the HD for the same reasons as the rest of us: 1. Ripping games to and booting with HDLoader 2. Faster Loading times 3. Having all your favorate games ready to go in one place 4. Never having to switch game discs 5. Saving on you laser usage to prolong PS2 Also, I use cheat devices with my HD - how I do it is activate cheats, boot game normally off of recordable media, save game - reload game off of HD and HDLoader and load new save. IF you have the budget AND the desire you could easily get BOTH hard drives and swap them out, depending on what it is you want to do. AND a quick visit to www.ps2ownz.com will tell you a little something about "Free HDLoader" which is so common now I think 7-11 down my block has a copy floating around. This "Free HDLoader" can be booted like a backup game (mod/fliptop). Hope this helps. _X_X_X_X_X_[small][PS2v9][Magic50K][Maxtor120G][Free HDLoader] [AR Max EVO w USB Pen][Optical Audio][Componant Video] [No Copyrights For Those Who Don't Respect Copyrights][/small]
buying a hd loader is one of the best things ive done, its not a waste of money and a lot of the games work on it (95%) yea a couple dont(5%) but we cant get everything.
Actually the Official HDD interferes with some modchips (my Messiah 2 PRO v1.30 for instance). I put in a 120GB Seagate and it worked perfectly.
I have used 10-120gb drives on my PS2 so far. Dual layer DVD discs work fine with the hot swap external drive bay in the PC I bought from www.computekinc.us so far. I just eject the drive and jack it in the pc to do the copy now. Makes it easy for newbies!
So here's my question, as a newb. It's probably been answered, but i'm gonna ask it anyway. If i take my 80 gig Maxtor HD out of my pc, and put it in my ps2...and then use the same disc that comes with the original Sony HDD, that i got from a friend, will i be able to put the new map from socom on the HD, and play it ??? Like i said, i have the original disc from the original Sony HDD, and i have the original disc with the new map on it. Yes i can do this ???...or no i can't ???. Thanks. Zedder.
Does anyone know if HDAdvance 2.0 is better than HD Loader? I'm planning on buying a hd for my ps2 from wwwlinker4u.com. Also is it possible to save my games on the hd. Than next time I can play the games without the orginal disk it will just boot from the hd.
Hi, im thinking of getting an HD loader, but before I do, i just have a couple questions to ask you people. 1. Do you guys know where i can download an HD loader, and where i can get the hack for it to work? (if i need a hack) 2. Can the HD loader save burned games to my hard drive? 3. And do you guys know where to get the hack to save games that cant be saved to a hard drive such as: GTA SAN ANDREAS
1. cant remember the link 2. yes....thats its whole purpose, what else did u think it did? 3. it already can store GTA: SA
ANYWAY I'M NEW HERE SO WHAT I GET IS THAT IF I HAVE A NETWORK ADAPTOR WITH MY PS2 AND A HDD THAT PLUGS IN THE ADAPTOR AND FITS INTO THE BOX THE SETUP SHOULD WORK W/O ANY OTHER MODS ????? WHAT'S A HDD LOADER?????
