sorry but im pretty new to this i just wanted to know that if i buy a 120 hdd that works w/ my ps2 and then buy hd loader for like $30, is that all i need to save games to my hdd and play them from it? would i also need a modchip because i already have a flip top if that is needed at all? also when u load games off your hdd go uhave to put in the hd loader disc in each time? thanx
No mod chip needed Order from here cheap and fast http://www.playstationmodchip.com/customer/home.php?cat=191 Yes you will need hdloader to save and load to your hard drive and play your games and that's all you need hdloader and your hard drive and don't forget your network adapt. When you order it should come with instruc. to help you out any other questions?
Your fliptop will still come in handy so that you can transfer your backups like you would an original. Also you need to have the hdloader dvd in to boot the ps2 each time you play unless you do some mc exploit or something like that I think.
ok i wil answer your questions quickly. 1. Yes thats all you need to play ps2 game son your hdd, the fliptop will allow you to play backups. Also a extreemly cheap and fast shipping store is http://www.consolepoint.com (there in the u.s so there fast). 2. no you dont need a modchip if you get the fliptop installed. 3. Yea youll need the hdloader everytime.
Hmmmm (thinking)... I think i just answered the question on my first post But to add you should get hdadvance 2.0 just in case you every want to upgrade your Hard drive to 200gb hdloader only can load 120gb i think But like i said when you order it It will come with instructions
get a 200GB hdd instead. check staples, best buy, or maybe an online shop where you can get a 200GB maxtor for a low price of less than 100bux (rebates or whatever) get that, and "do the MC exploit" instead of buying hdloader or hdadvance. you can download hdloader from various places and they're already patched to allow over 120GB. i recommend getting codebreaker 8.1 or higher AND a USB memory stick to do the MC exploit. http://www.exploitstation.com/articles/codebreaker_exploit.php. this exploit method is very easy and saves you the trouble of trying to burn swap cds and making coasters by mistake. codebreaker, 20bux at walmart. if it's not 8.1 or higher, just take it back and tell 'em you didnt like it and trade it for the right one. USB Memory stick, 15-25bux also at walmart. i know $145 is prob'ly more than you want to spend, but trust me it will be worth it when it's all over and done. the only real reason i would say get a retail HDL/HDA is to do cheat codes (with codebreaker). unfcrtunately for me, i got my hda before i found out about mc exploits.
2 more questions Which one should i get hd loader or hd advance 2 because im noticed thhat hd loader is cheaper? Also, can anyone recommend me a good hardrive that is 120gb and is cheap, around 90 bux or less
For the harddrive I would check out Sam's Club or Costco if you know someone with a membership. If not go to Nextag.com and compare prices.
http://www.pricewatch.com has a listing of hard drives. some even 200GB for 90 or less. i got 2 200GB seagates from http://www.memorylabs.com for 88bux a piece, but the shipping kicked me in the shins. if and only if you want to spend money on hdl/hda, get hda2 (formats large drives with no stress). you could even consider downloading the latest winhiip, and that should give you the option to format a large drive to get it ready for ps2 usage. then you might not neeeed to buy the hdl/hda. i will also say that you should still DO THE MC EXPLOIT. because no matter which one you get, hdl or hda, the new patched hdl will take care of all your needs and be more compatible with newer games. and it will keep getting updated. havent heard anything about new or recent developments for hda.
gocybershopping.com is selling drives pretty cheap... prices just dropped I noticed heres a link http://www.gocybershopping.com/customer/search.php?substring=hard+drive or for maxtors http://www.gocybershopping.com/customer/search.php?substring=maxtor
dont pay a cent for hd advance )any version) they are cheating scam artists making money off others hard work!! Download hdloader from some sites on the net. Make a MC exploit and then ANY ps1 disk will become your hdloader disk. If your not sure then go here and download both files, then read ALL the readme's packed in the folder. Read it a couple times and it will be VERY clear. This way the only cost to you is the price of the hdd and network adapter!! http://members.shaw.ca/PS2_BOOT_CD/
stinky's right. HDA did totally rip off HDL, but my main reason for supporting the 'scam artists' is because they offered support for large drives. and i knew for a fact that i would have a 200 GB drive in my PS2 at some point. when hdl first came out, my friend told me about it, and i thought that was the cooooolest damn thing since the invention of the PS2. but the problem is that i was very short on cash for a long time. by the time i had the money to get stuff, hdl was getting shut down or had been shut down. i was pissed for 10 seconds till i heard about hda, and by that time they were supporting large drives. i knew i'd have a large drive someday and got it in preparation. it wasnt until 2 months after god of war came out that i got into exploits, and i'm glad i did. but the moral of the story is do not support scam artists on purpose unless you can truly benefit from it with knowledge.
actually, hda only supported larger hdd AFTER a patch was freely availible on the net for HDL. They just took the patch, patched their rip off version and ran with it. They have done the same thing with HDA 3.0. On that aio disk I linked to there are 2 version of HDL. one that is equal to hda 2.0, and one that is equal to hda 3.0. Plus that one is totally free and it does a LOT more! I should know I made the disk myself
i had no clue that's what happend or any idea of what was going on. i was never into the scene back then. i think the reason for that is because i didnt have the money to do the stuff i wanted to do, so i just flat out didn't worry about stuff. i just got my ps2 2 years ago (pawn shop rox), just got net adapter and hda in october, 200GB hdd in march/april, and finally exploits in may. so i'm still feeling brand new to this with a lot to learn. i also saw your link, but i think i would have needed a mod chip/swap trick to make it work. and i do not wish to put a modchip into my ps2 because i'm giving it to my sisters for X-mas. and i dont want them to have to do more work than to just turn it on and click on what they want.
if you put the exploit version on a mc you can use it without a slide card or a mod chip. You just need to know somebody that heas either of those 1 time to get the exploit onto the card.
i think i misunderstood what you meant about the link. i remember seeing a link that you had a couple of months ago when i first got started with exploiting. that link had something to do with the snes station. and that's what i was thinking about when you mentioned your link. sorry for the confusion. this is what i remember seeing: (after visiting your link today) " You MUST have a mod chip to use this disk. It is NOT a replacement for Swap Magic or any other backup playing solution. This is the SAME as a copied CD based PS2 game. If you CANNOT play backup games on your PS2 now; then this disk is of NO VALUE to you." so i kept on going and didnt worry about it. i've already picked up the latest HDL, launchelf, and even the unofficial launchelf. i think i'm good to go for the next couple of weeks till something new comes around. thanks.
it is the snes station thing, but it has much advanced since then. I made a MC exploit version for all the people with no mod chip since sooo many people were asking for it. If you are happy with what you have then I guess your good to go. Most people want more though. If you ever want to give it a try and you already have launchelf on a MC exploit then you can use my aio disk with no problems at all.
i went ahead and downloaded it, but i wont have time to look at it until after work. and again, thanks.
