Is there a way to rip the movies from PS2 games? I know there are a few progs to do it but is there a way that will work for all of them or at least most of them? One of the ones I want to do is FFX I have the tool to rip them out, but then I can't seem to put the audio and video back together without buying some program. Any tips will help alot, I'm trying to make a dvd that has lots of my fav game movie clips. Like: Silent Hill, Resident Evil, FFX, Tenchu and much more.
good idea mate i would love to see that once you finished.if anyone can tell me where i can downlaod all res 4 movie clips would be much appreciated and laso the smart bit of res 4 like when he has the knife fight with jack kauser.
its ok unfortunately my res 4 game has not got any .pss files only .asf and i wanted to have all the cutscenes 2
You need to extract the movie AFS files (3 big ones I think) and then use AFS explorer to open up them up. Inside are SFD movie files. I have worked a bit with SFD files and they can be extracted, downsampled etc. I am not 100% certain what programs you need to have in order to only save/view them as I downsampled my SFD's and then replaced them back into their folders. I didn't do this with Resident Evil 4 as downsampling will not shrink the size of AFS files. If I recall correctly, SFD videos are comprised of an M1v or M2v video file and an SFA audio file. TMPGE can extract the audio and video from the SFD and you are then free to manipulate it. Also, I'm not sure but I think you may be able to rename an SFD file "Mpeg" and it will play like an mpeg file. Don't quote me on that however...
Well none of my games seem to have pss files, what other formats are there that could mean a video file? Oh and can you extract movies from PSX games too? I got tired of doing this (trying to extract movie files) cause I had the idea of getting a TV Card for my laptop and I could just plug and play my ps2 or Xbox and record the videos. Ofcourse that would mean alot of play time to get to the clip you wanted to record but at least that way I would see some results, but there aren't alot of high quality cards outhere that might work better cost too much. I can play my PS2/Xbox games but the picture quality sucks, the only thing the card's good for is recording audio so it wasn't a total loss. If anyone has a better way than pss decoder, please post. Or if there's a program that you have to buy to get the job done no matter what game, I would like to know I would pay for something that would work like that.
