right this is a realy retarded question but i have never realy under stood it too much nor have i ever looked into it. right i have one of the very old ps2 (un modded) i can give you the model number but im not realy wanting to mod it as im waiting for a ps3 and never realy play it. what i have found is that im able to play backed up dvds fine on my ps2 no probs but i am intreseted to find out if backed up ps2 games would work on it (stupid yes i know). so if any one wants to takle the time to explain why this is not posable feel free ill understand (I persume it must be to do with encryption on games that dvds dont have but im not the expert on the ps2) (i dont want to mod my ps2 i real dont use it any more and i have no money for it)
yes u can play backed up games on a ps2 u need either swap magic or a modchip for playing backups they go about 30 bucks for either.so save up and youll get one soon you can use dvd decrypter<-- google for download and click on MODE-->ISO-->READ and then wait for an iso of the game to be made then when u have ur iso get a blank DVD-R place in the disc drive click MODE-->ISO-->WRITE then go to source right below and find ur iso file set ur burn speeed to 4X after that u will see an icon with a disc drive and then a green arrow and a labeled DVD click on the icon
Or in short terms...your ps2 may be able to play movie backups, but not games. Most home dvd players/ps2's can play copied movies.
thanx KMK that was more of the kind of answer i was looking for it doesnt bover me too much i just never realy understood why copyied dvd could play when there was no mod chip but i think what i though was doing it is doing it.
