Any ideas on how to fix this?

It stopped working after I installed the Matrix Infinity modchip. All other buttons work great. The Eject button still works, which is how I turn on the ps2. Its funny, because the eject button is on the same board than the power button.

Do you think removing the modchip could fix this?

make sure the ribbon for the power/eject is not damaged or loose

Thankx Steimy, but I already checked that.

Is there anything else I could check for? Removing the modchip?

is there a chance that a drip of solder got onto the motherboard somewhere it should not have? Or even bridged two points somewhere?

I checked for bridged connections, but not for drops of solder on the motherboard. I guess I'll be playing operation with the ps2 again.

If that doesn't work I'll remove the modchip and see what happens.
I'll post after I do all that.

If the power on/off buton doesn't work, I presume that you acutally had no way to check if the installation has succeeded.....any chance that its not the fact the poewr/reset button is not working but that it mite be a bigger problem?

    Thanks Kaphis.

I don't know. I am able to turn the ps2 on by pressing the eject button.

Do you need to press the power buton in order for the chip to work?
