No even tho its called Playstation portable its more or less playstation 1. I wish you could rip 2 though. But if you could the games ISO would be super huge like 3 gigs for like the average game.

No it isn't, PSP does not have the same power as PS2, thats why you don't see PSP games just as good as PS2.

    SPECS: PS2/PSP

    CPU: 128-bit/128-bit
    System Clock Frequency: 294.912 MHz/333MHz
Main Memory: Direct Rambus (Direct RDRAM)/Embedded DRAM: 4MB
    Memory Size: 32MB/32MB
Memory Bus Bandwidth: 3.2GB per second/2.6GB per sec

    ----------

The PSP could very well emulate a PS2; the problem is, after it emulates it; it wouldn't have much room to store anything else. You could get as far as the PS2's main menu and it would maybe go 0.1 fps.

but even then who would want it?
i beleive anybody without a life could create a ps2 emulator, they would just take 2-4 years.

People have "dieing hearts" to play the PS2 at less than a frame a second? (if someone perfected a PS2 emulator, it might go a blazing one and a half frames a second!)

The PSP barely has enough room to emulate a PS2 system, let alone have enough excess room to play games after the PS2 system is emulated.

I'm with XEnigmaX on this one. A PS2 emulator on the PSP is plausible, but not practical. I think we should just put 5 year old consoles like N64 and stuff on PSP, and forget about the 6th generation consoles until a more powerful handheld comes out.

ok jus think about it guys, most ps2 games require the second analog stick and the r2 and l2 buttons every game i have requires buttons the psp doesnt have, socom....need r2 and analog stick for moving the screen... and needs the x/y/o/square too in case you use them to rotate the screen (medal of honor heroes) and smavkdown vs raw 07 needs r2 and l2 to reverse and gotta move with the analog. simply putting it, it just wouldn't be very comfortable, to make up for lost buttons you'd have to press too at a time, making it ....uncomforatble.

did u know i read somwewhere that umds can hold i think it was 1.8gbs. its weird that they dont make graphics better for smaller games they have 1.8gbs use it all up for the ultimate game and make a halo for the psp(not realy halo, a good game eg Xbox+Halo=<3).

halo would need a bit more than 1.8 gigs plus the psp is no where near emulating the xbox

it is impossible... but we are getting close.. with the new slim psp it has double ram which will ease the load on the isos/UMD....

    but hey nothing is impossible

i didnt mean to put halo on the psp or umd... i just was using an example that the psp might have some good games....but nothing revolutionary like Microsoft has Halo...

think about it, if a perfect N64 emulator can't be created, what's the chance of having a PS2 emulator

i think that with a giant ram upgrade and maybe a better architecture it would run it fine... but at the moment not even a scratch at perfect emulation of n64 maybe in the near future

ONE PS2 game would be too much for the PSP.It would lag like hell. And you're talking about putting a PS2 into the PSP?Whoever can emulate a PS2 game with no lags would be a PSP emulation god...IDK if i used the word emulation right lol.
