Big time NEWBIE here. Read Forum for about a week now and still have problem. I'm using Pioneer V105 DVD Burner, Nero software, GAmeShark2. Tried burning DVD-RW of GTA3 with no luck. PS2 will not boot game. Also the nero software didn't allow me to select a folder to save image to while burning. It said, created, and then it copied and then burned successfully! Should I use DVD-R disk? And should I scrap the ModChip and buy a Messiah or Magic ModChip, and if so which is the best ModChip for PS2 V4? I know - I'm an idiot but anay help would be appreciated !!!!! Thank You
I just went to Modchip website and found the "Magic 3" for $60.00 - is that a good price? And what do they mean for ordering "Gap" or "No Gap"
bodul67 The price is okay. But the installation is a nightmare. I did it once successfuly and screwed up one. Give Supleh2 a call. He's supplies the magic3 and install it for you. I just received a complete modified set from him yesterday. It works great.
v4 will only read drd-r...nothing else try an r-mod and swap magic 2 boot disks i use them on mine and they work a treat!
Thanks for your help clark. What kind of dvd-r's do you use. I want to find some good one's for dvd's and ps2 games.
i in the UK with PAL v5 PS2 using Swap Magic 2 euro version and no-solder mod, got it here http://www.psxservices.co.uk/ £20 inc post....next day service
SUCCESS! I have the no-solder MOD chip for PS2 V5. I was unable to boot DVD backups using Gameshark 2.0 and all of the seemingly superstitious methods of booting described out there. The seller - Modchip.ca told me that I needed to get Swap disks and that would do the trick. Even though I was told that the Gameshark would do the trick previously. I received the Swap disks yesterday $25 for DVD and CD versions. I put it in the drive and "Insert Disk" was displayed. I held in the eject button until the drawer opened. Then, swapped with my backup and pushed X. Started right up!!! Memorex and TDK brands. +R and -R both worked. RW didn't work thought. For those squeemish about soldering. Most people it seems from what I've read. This method is great. the no solder chip was $20 I think and the disks were $25. Add in shipping for about $10 and for $55 you're able to run backups of DVDs and CDs for PS2. One of the PS2s is broken. I'm not sure how. It's possible that the small cable on the no solder chip was pinched when I replaced the case. Does anyone know where I could get a PS2 V5 repaired?
and if you really don't want to use a mod chip...... how about a flip lid. Its a replacement ps2 top that converts the tray opening into a lid opening. sold in the UK for £25 here (and a picture) www.cd-biz.com (or is it .co.uk)
