Need help in booting PS2 with standard remote or wireless. Game starts but I don't have any control with either remote.

    Didn´t understand well...
But I don´t think you can play a game without a control, because you can´t move the characteres.
    Explain better your problem, pls.

You mean... The controllers won´t work, I guess....

If so... perhaps the socket for controllers of your ps2 is damaged, or with some connections loose.
Did you try to connect the controller on the 2nd player port?

Yes I did. The wireless controller doesn't work either. So I'm thinking it isn't hardware related but software.

I still thinking is a hardware problem.
Both sockets of controllers are in an unique block, are not seperate.
And there´s no difference between the normal and the wireless, because you have to connect the receiver device of the wireless to a port, as it was a dual shock
Think´s better you take the console to a technician

i know on my wireless controller, i forget what brand it is. I always have to push X, then if that doesn't work, then i put a pin on the reset button on the controller slot and that usually works.
    What brand is yours?

So... as I told you, is a hardware problem.
I have 11 dual shock controllers (most of them don´t work properly)
    A logitech wireless.
And a NGS (this one has a connection for ps2, and USB for PC).

If you don´t have a battery charger is a good idea buy one.
    And rechargeable batteries, of course
