Ps3 and Xbox 360, a war to come..

I am sorry anubis but the concept of Xbox LIVE has been copied by Sony. I dont blame them becuase its a good idea.

To put it into context where you might understand better what I am trying to say, imagine the analog joystick of the N64 an idea created by nintendo but reproduced slightly differently with the PS controler but still the same concept. THe same applies to thier online service.

One last thing I havent hear or read anything on Sony's online srvice being free for online gaming. Infact I havent heard much on thier online service except they will have a bisic free version and the same content a Xbox LIVE. Please can I have the official word in writing from Sony that PS3 will have free online play. Thanks [bold]anubis[/bold]

 

Umm who doesn't copy off of someone else in todays world?
Concepts of accessories, consoles, and games are all original innovation that go through the stages of progression with other companies.
It sounds a bit childish to say X copied Y. Cause then You would have to note the fact that Xbox came out with a console after sony, sony obviously wasnt the furst to release a console and blah blah blah blah. So come on

 

Forget what I said back there anubis I just found the official word that PS3 will have free online play. This is very good however it brings up the question of what will Sony charge people for to keep thier online service running?

 

youll have to pay for extra content, but the games u get at the store will have free play. im thinking there is a subcription service where when u download games, music, videos, etc. online, they will charge you for that.

 

ok lots of things to answer here.

mudearies - you said the delay meant better games, well i would have thought so too, but sony have announced that they will delay the beta kits for the games from jan to jun, so developers will have less time to do whatever developers do, which is kinda what happened to the xbox 360 launch games.

ok anubis, i know ps3 online will have some new features, but zelda is responding to your earlier response that sony is not copying M$ at all. which is obviously wrong as they deffinatly are, but also like Joeva said everybody is copying everybody, that how it works i supose.
this also means that each games company will have its own server in which you will join unlike xbox live, which i supose is not too much different as each can have their own problems.

also about the pricing for the ps3 online, although sony will not charge you, other companies like ubisoft and EA (just some examples) will be able to charge you anything they want, like on pc for games like eve.

 

i've just always liked the fact that i have never had to pay to play my playstation 2 games. for instance i play socom 3 all the time and dont have to pay the 50 a year or whatever it is for xbox live.

i dont know if you guys have seen the articles or not, but ps3 with a 60 gig hard drive, and sony teaming up with a comany to offer video and maybe music over there ps3 online service. that is where they will make there money.

that and the ps3 was designed to take over your living room. it wont be long before you use it as a dvr, watch all your movies on it cause you dont want to drop another 1000 on a blu-ray dvd player.

and there is supposed to be other compatablities in your houshold to come out afterwards but no detail have been released.

 

but then as he says who doesnt copy who? saying "copied" just implies that everything is the same" they borrow the ideas and improved upon them and add more, its the basis of evolution and development. plus there are alread kits out, and the finals come out in june. alot of the games have been in developement, and the final kits will only serve to improve.

and yeah its supposed to be your at home media centerpiece, doing w/e it is you want for a low price.

 

smlrwd - M$ is also making some sort of thing where you can stream, hd movies, tv and music onto your xbox 360 straight over xbl.

also anubis the ps3 online service from what i have read, is mostly the same and anything which is really different is not so much as improved as it is just a different way to doing it to the way xbox live has, but i must admit that there are a few number of things which are improved ( not equivilant, but actually things not capable on the xbox live), but then again the xbox live has arcade and some other good features coming out like watching tournaments ( which i assume has more to it then that).

anyways now all we need to know is what nintendo rev can produce.

 

did you not notice ms came out with these new plans after the ps3 online details were released? talk about copying wich you hate so much. and the ps3 online will have an arcade like service, with a possible ability to download old games from ps1 and ps2, giving it the biggest launch play ability of any system ever.

anyways, what do you think phil will tell us on the 22nd? im guessing technical stats, like the cells finalization (its at 4ghz now, but i dunno if they will use that modle in the ps3.), the bluray complications, the new controller thoughts, and the system base itself.

 

Maybe be some information on the games in development, some info on technical specs and maybe if we are lucky the price. The rest of the stuff like controler and game demonstrations will be left for E3.

 

myabe they will have a playable console at e3, but their arnt enuf good games complete yet. maybe they will have a demo disk, but please dear god they better not use untold legends. it looks like a really fun game and sounds like it, but the graphics will depress everyone and make it seem like the console is worthless.

 

Iam glad you said that anubis. If your think back to when Xbox360 was shown a similar thing happened. The 360 is a powerfull game but they showed games with graphic quality of an Xbox which I found to be a bad move, just like you will find for Sony if they decide apon the same dessision.

Another example of this was when walking into EB games here in Australia. The console isnt out here yet but to demonstrate they had this rubbish basketball game playing instead of Ghost Reacon or Fight Night.

 

maybe its cuz more people are into sports? people say "gameplay makes the game" but i dont agree. if a game is fun but really lacks in the graphics depot, and you just downed 400 dollars for a console that was supposed to perform to an insane level, ill feel gyped and completely ripped off. if i pay that much for a new system, i dont want a chump game that my half-assed computer can render.

well, i still play games like cossaks and delta force land worrior, and they have extrmely crap graphics, but the gameplay for me is the best.
but yeah graphics help.
p.s i am loving ghost recon, the multiplayer is good but the single player is for me on par with halo, single player.

 

Well its completly on the graphics when it comes to these new systems. Yes gamplay is the most important aspect but whats the point of buying a new console if the graphic quality is the same as an xbox or PS2?

So the whole point of buying a new console is mainly the graphics.

The Australian's do love thier sport so why didnt they show Fight Night at EB games. This has a much better graphic quality.

What you do with your image is to copy the picture details from properties then paste it. When you have done that place img (the picture) /img with brackets like this .

Coming back to the Xbox LIVE arcade. Steet Fighter is an origional import, so is Mortal combat and (soon to come) Sonic. There will be many other retro games coming to the system. Also the new graphical games like Geomatry Wars is a very addictive playable game. Its good for a quick play when you limited on time or dont want the full on action of a proper game.

Anyway Sony will copy this and then you will be saying how good it is, just like they are doing now with thier PS3 internet. Every company does it just accept its a good idea on both accounts.
