So frankly, what I want to know is the truth. I trust the Afterdawn community, they have helped me a lot on different issues. So...

    1) 1.32 firmware. US PS3, does this work. If not, what happens when you put the DVD in?
    2) Are you guys using DVD-R or DVD+R (I know it shouldn't matter since the PS3 can read both, but still...)

It doesn't matter if it doesn't work, atleast now, we're getting somewhere i.e. trying new things. Anything is better than nothing.

where does it say anything about running linux to get the games working? The Linux os is limited on the ps3 so you cant run any games from there.

Ok as others have confirmed I can now too. I tried 3 different programs and it did NOT boot.

    1) Disc Juggler (as this was the only app to properly do Dreamcast self boot games)

    2) DVD Decrypter (as that is what gangsta3 said he used)

    3) Nero 6 Ultra (as this is what I use for PS2 DVD's)

The PS3 did see all 3 as a data disc under its Photo, Music and Movie icons and I was able to explore the disc. I went through every folder to see if a file would boot or something, but nothing. My PS3 is v1.10 and I used 2 Prodisc 8x DVD-r's and 1 Verbatim DVD-RW 2x, burned at 8x and 4x respectively (yes a 2x @ 4x / 4x @ 8x is also possible on my PC with no problems). Now unless it has to do with a Japanese PS3 then it is confirmed as "myth busted".

Alright then... it doesn't work on US PS3's even with lower firmware... then logically, it shouldn't work with the JAP ones either since both regional systems are using the exact same hardware and software.
