**PS3 Backups as of 05/09 cannot be played yet**

Im not sure wether its real or not. This video is to show that team ICE (or somthing) made their own file and can boot it up on the ps3.

I don't think anyone is going to take these videos seriously. We've seen it all before. A group makes a claim releases a video and nothing. It's going to take more than a video to convince people that backups are playable on PS3.

 

My PS3 is still version 1.93 due to the fact that I hardly play it.
I never understood the reason why backups can't be played on it.
Does it have to do with the firmware or something else?

 

send me an email when backups can be played cause i am susposta be getting like 20 games

 

It may be fake....Until people start showing proof,say oh...I dont know.. May release the video and the files showing how I can do it my self and see it in person.. instead of a edited video...

 

I beg to differ with your last statement Edgewise. I have a friend who has found a way to import the ps3 game image onto an external HDD and is using a freeware menu interface within the external HDD. He currently has 30 titles that all work perfectly. I bought a ps3 last week and I will post all the datails of the mod as soon as mine is successfully completed.

 

I do not believe this....... Why do you have to wait to post the details??? See this is what is wrong with everyone who claims they have a way to play backups... They always tell about how they do it, but cant ever prove it...

 

I agree with you 100% Jlhfit,people will keep claiming these rediculous things,there will be a way to play backups some time this year,but as of now there is no possible way of playing backups.
I guess some people dont understand the thread title.

this could be sonys biggest marketing ploy, accidentally release the firmware protection code for drives into general population, let the modders hack it sales of ps3's triple over night with modders buying it then when everybodys settled into there usual role of pirating games to play on there modded ps3's let the power supply or main processor burn out n have modders buy more ps3s cuz they cant have em fixed under warrenty, worked for micro softies xbox 360 n the wii wont be far behind soon

Sony make hardly any profit from the consoles,they make the biggest majority of thier profit from selling games.

 

I agree with phate316, this is doesn't sound too crazy or farfetched at all! We know that sony was losing money from the consoles when they were first released(http://www.gamespot.com/news/2005/06/28/news_6128295.html), but with recent reports (http://news.filefront.com/sony-shrinking-blu-rray-player-possible-ps3-cost-reduction/) indicating that sony is possibly shrinking their blu-ray players, it is possibly for Sony to setup a ploy as phate316 described. Once everyone(resellers/hackers & regular consumers) purchased more [cracked] ps3's, increasing Sony's sales...all Sony would need to do is issue a fix/firmware update!! It would be a Win-Win for Sony.

I could try and explain it easier for you if you want.

Pirate games = huge profit losses for Sony.
Pirate games = means no money for Sony.
Pirate games = Sony make NO money.

Basicaly what the statement in bold means is that Sony wont make much profit from thier console,they will only make it from the sale of games meaning that when we are able to play pirate games Sony loose money,alot of money.

On the matter of Sony releasing a fix and it being win win for them,your wrong,once the PS3 is cracked thats it,no turning back it will be cracked forever.

And again i really dont mean to be offensive,but i cant understand how someone could believe what you and Phate316 believe.

 

What about people like me who usually buys games used. Does Sony get money from the second sale on the same game?

sorry mate but i gotta agree with phate316.

if this little manoueveur ensures that people actually buy the PS3 then ATLEAST Sony will make 'Some' Profit, even though they wont buy the actual games.
its better than people not buying the games and NOT buying the console.
so i wouldnt be surprised if they did do this.

and besdies didnt they don something like this with the PSP?

 

Sorry dude but do i have to redo my last post.People are buying the PS3 and by Christmas i think it will be the most popular console.
