it all depends on how well blu-ray does(seeing HD-DVD as a competition)..if they dont sell discs then therell be no back-ups.

Yeah but bluray is the game format for ps3 so even if bluray as a movie format fails it will still be a successful game format. The discs will be available as well.

Yeah I agree with tycobb. There still will be back-ups even if the movies dont do well.

Well it depends. When the ps3 comes out and you buy all thses games for it. Then fi they freaquently get recked then I think it would be worht it even if it takes a long time to make a back-up for you game.

It will come down in price just like dvd's.Like I said they'll find a work around they always do.Games used to come on cd's which held 700mb and when the games switched to dvd which holds 4.7gb etc people said the same thing but it worked out in the end.Now your seeing the same thing and as the file size gets bigger you will see an answer for it.

It would be worth the wait for me personally.and not all games will fill the disc up to the end. It's 25gb last time I checked not 50gb but I could be wrong.

Strange, I thought 50gb would be the most logical

Hey all! Even if you could burn a backup of the Blue-Ray at the PS3 release date, you want to spend $900.00 for a BR burner, which is the average going price plus another $600.00+tax and warrenty for the PS3? I'll wait a couple of years til' the price of the burner and discs goes down.

I remember when one of the first dvd burners came out, I shelled out $800 and could only burn 1:1 speed. I don't know how fast the BRs burn but on a 50GB game - wow - get the sleeping bag out, PS4 will be out by then. By the way, does anyone know what the actual size of a game will be? I am sure there will be a way to back up games to the hard drive like x-box. Man, I can't wait!

but if it is like 20GB a game thats like 3 games and ur 60GB Woooo harddrive is full! but them it creates the possibility of people using their own harddrives! but even 200GB wont hold that many lets say if there 50GB each

well when the first ps3 games are relesed they wont use 50 gb's up they will probaly be no more then 20 gb.

broadband download problem with sky digital you can get 16 meg per second with no download limits for 10 pounds a month ! so that speeds the download part up a bit.

and considering you can get 500 gig hardrives i dont think size is a problem for now.

I remember reading in the ps2 magizine that ps3 will evenchally have 200 gb blue ray discs and the games will fit on that :O so thats when it sharts to become a real problem.
