Yes on all three counts. The CERTIFICATE folder is empty, however... should there be something in there? The BD ISO image is being generated by ProShow Gold, which does not mention anything specifically about BD5/BD9 or AVCHD/AVCREC. Their intent is to burn on to an actual BD-R, so I figured there might be some fiddling needed to stick that directory structure on a DVD, at least for the PS3.

I'll try a few different combinations with the 24p version too see if that makes a difference. I did try playing the 25 Mbps 1920x1080x60i .m2ts file directly on the PS3 (i.e., from a USB stick) and the PS3 handles that just fine.

I'm thinking that there might be some DRM involved. Somehow, the content generated by PSG is flagged as "copyrighted", but the PS3 sees it isn't on true BD media, assumes it is a digital copy, and deliberately forces downscaling to 480p. Is that possible?

Take your 1080i60 m2ts file, remux to Blu-ray using tsMuxeR this time, then burn as usual. tsMuxeR is freeware and can be found a the beginning of this thread. Lemme know how you do.

Sounds like a bad encode or a corrupt file. I don't think there's anything that can be done to fix it.

But when I play the original MKV file itself, it plays fine ! Shouldn't the original MKV also be having problems if its a bad encode ?

Yep, I tried that already. That gives me a DVD that the PS3 now recognizes as "AVCHD" (instead of "data disc") and it automatically starts playing the video... but downscaled to 480 lines. If I read that same disc in my PC and play it with VLC, I get the full 1920x1080 video. It's a 724 MB .m2ts file for a 3.5-minute slideshow, which is definitely beyond 480p territory. :)

I'm pretty sure there is something I need to fiddle with in the .bdmv files, but I don't know what. I've looked at the disc with BDEdit, but I'm not familiar with the settings and parameters. I know the PS3 can play 1080p content from an AVCHD. The AVS HD 709 calibration disc employs a 720p main menu, but the chapters containing the calibration screens show up in 1080p on my PS3. Maybe I'll track down whoever authored that disc and see what magic they invoked.

Does anyone you have a working .vob file with h264+AC3+SRT?
I still can't see some anime files. I demuxed it with tsmuxer to change the video stream 4.1, then remuxed in mkv with just the .aac and the .srt.
Then i put this file (working perfectly on pc with subtitle and audio in sync) in mk2vob (the last version of the one for the PS3 on doom9)

I obtain a .vob file with ac3 audio and no reencoding of the video stream but NO SUBS!

In the mkv the tracks are all with the same name, just different extensions.

The only way you're gonna get subs is in either Blu-ray or DVD format.

Does the m2ts file play fine on your PS3, or is it just PowerDVD giving you the issues? If you are just using your PC to play then why not use the mkv?

I recently found a ps3 media server program for streaming mkv files right to the ps3 rather than having to convert them beforehand. It actually transcodes the files while streaming. It has worked fairly well for me so far........ http://ps3mediaserver.blogspot.com/

FAT partitions are limited to storing a single file no larger than 4GB. It is the file system that restricts this not the USB stick.

I am sorry if you purchased the stick with the premise of using it for files larger than 4GB but unfortunately there is no way to make that happen.

Hi guys back again ...
I got a movie in .mpg format.
The movie contains 2 audio's : the first one in chinese (which i'm a little bit rusty at) and the second in english DTS-ES what i'm after.
Could you please tell me o program to demux this kind of container , because tsmuxerGUI and mkvextractGUI doesn't recognize it.
Thank you.

OK guys, I have question regarding the subtitles in an AVCHD Disc ...

Regarding a recent AVCHD Disc I compiled, when I played it back on my PS3 with the subtitles on, I noticed that the subtitles in italics were not being displayed properly.

For example, if the subtitle is this: Hello Everyone!
The PS3 would display is like this : Hello Everyone!

Anyway to solve this ?

It will work only if you partition part or all of the NTFS external drive to FAT32, then you're back in the same boat... it would be just like having a really big USB stick.

Exactly, for what I know the only way to use a file bigger than 4 gb is to stream it from a pc with a NTFS hard disk or to split it.

I've noticed that the italics doesn't show properly when i try to make AVCHD out of .m2ts.
On the other hand when the container si .mkv ... it works like a charm ...
