Will try to feed my "reduced" mkv into multiAVCHD. Problem is that the PS3 can only see one AVCHD at a time on an external disk, so you have to rename them using a computer.

Going back to tsmuxer, I had a strange problem tonight, it couldn't see the audio part of an HD .ts created with my DM800 Dreambox. I had to use TSremux to cut the part I wanted. Has anyone had that problem before ?

Im having big trouble muxing a srt into a mp4-file to be watched on the ps3 with subs.

Ive got a MKV-file that i want to convert to a mp4-file with softsubs in it.

Im pretty sure the srt-file is the same frame rate as the mkv-file, 23,976. How to find out if it is?

When i have been trying to mux to mp4, ive used two different ways.
First way is to add the mkv-file and the srt-file seperetly to each app ive been trying with, and the second one is that i have first merged the mkv-file and the srt-file together with mkvmerge GUI and after that added the file to the app. The merged mkv-file is working fine with subtitles in VLC.

Based on my understanding and experience, the PS3 will only read optional subtitles from an AVCHD structure, you can build one with mkv2vob or multiAVCHD

 

If its true then its very annoying because i wanted a mp4-file instead of avchd for being able to play it with both my iphone and ps3.

When you have a AVCHD-folder on a usb-harddrive, how are u supose do play it on the ps3? Are u sopposed to go for example: J:/AVCHD/BDMV/STREAM and then play the m2ts-file in that folder?

Do you know an app for transcoding subs into mkv file, to a mp4-file, that not making the file bigger? When i transcoding with mkv2vob the file goes from 558 mb, to 1,14 gb. Im using the MPEG-2 codec.
Im searching for an app that is doing the less damage to the quality ass possible, but still keeps the size of the file.

Yes it's a pain, I read Sony were going to add support for mkv in v3.0 but that didn't happen, probably just a rumor.

If you select x264 (slow) file size should stay manageable.

Structure is given in mkv2vob pop-up, it's \AVCHD and it's recognized automatically.

That means you need to rename the directory for each movie stroed on an external HD.

 

I was wondering when you guys are remuxing the container file to play on the PS3. Does it play using the Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD MA audio?

 

i'm using TsMuxer v10.1.6 and i seem to have solved the green bar problem. BUT, when i convert a 1080 file to a bd-r disk i get a good size black bar on the bottom screen using my ps3 as my blu ray player. any solution(s)?

 

probably have dynamic range compression set to automatic or on...i never had a surround sound system ever in my life yet cuz i got no money..but from lots of research for my own ps3 i hear that dynamic range compression is always better to be set to off instead of automatic or on

 

most likely the display aspect ratio is set to something that would make black borders still appear...if your like me and you despise all stupid pointless black bars try using a display aspect ratio of 1.778 and do cropping. 1.778 DAR would make it stay 16:9...(16 divided by 9 = 1.77777778) just try using 1.778 as the display aspect ratio when you encode and youll see that when you play it back on a 16:9 display it should have no black bars anywhere...but since you are putting your file on a blank bd disc then that may be a reason why there is still a black bar...because even if you take a file of a SONG that is mp3 320 kbps and burn it to a cd it will automatically be 128kbps when its on the disk...my biggest suggestion is to use 1.778 as your display aspect ratio and try to play it off your ps3 without a disk at first to see how it will look (streaming/putting in m2ts container and copying via storage media device or DATA disk) and after that put the exact same file to the bd-r as u normally do and then see if you notice any difference

First of all, I wish people would get over the black bar phobia (I am referring to the normal black bars on 2.35:1 films). This is how the film was produced for the cinema. If you view this film without the black bars, then please be aware that you (or whoever did the transfer) will be chopping a few inches of film from each side. So the bars are far from pointless and stupid like you say.

In regards to encoding, Blu-ray discs always use a 1:1 pixel aspect ratio and the resolution naturally fills a 16:9 screeen. With 2.35:1 films, the black bars are encoded into the film so they can preserve the correct aspect ratio.

Now, onto the mp3 thing... Although, it is off topic, I would still like to address it as I believe information should always be accurate. There is no rule that states mp3 must be at 128 Kbit/s to be placed on CD media. If you create a data disc and burn the mp3 file, it should always burn as is. If you are finding that your mp3 files are being re-encoded from 320 Kbit/s to 129 Kbit/s, then that is due to a software setting. You should easily be able to stop this from happening. If not, I suggest you use some alternate burning application. If you are referring to creating a standard audio CD for any stand alone player, then that mp3 will be converted to PCM at 1411 Kbit/s.

and this 1.778 DAR shyt i believe works i keep tryin and comparin
from a ntsc dvd 720x480 then i use megui i create a d2v file like it says on the internet i autocrop and it goes down to 720x362 without the black bars and its an anamorphic 100% progessive dvd ..it uses a mod16 and it suggest 368 for the height and not the original 362... and 720 is fine for the width cuz there was no need 2 crop on those 2 sides the display aspect ratio was changed from 2.35:1 to 1.778 the avisynth script is created i used the spline64(sharp) resize filter and i believe the avisynth was correct and i do this shyt to learn how to encode good like the p720mkvbT. makers

 

I also referred to a standard audio CD in my post above. To reiterate again, your mp3 will be converted (decompressed) to PCM at 1411 Kbit/s as mp3 is not the codec used on standard audio CD's. It will not be converted from a bitrate of 320 Kbit/s to 128 Kbit/s like you say. Making a mp3 128 Kbit/s does not make it standard audio CD compliant, only PCM (CDA) at 1411 Kbit/s (2 channels, 16 bit, 44.1 kHz) does. Any other disc containing mp3 files need to be burnt as a data disc.

In regards to the ratio, you seem to be discussing regular DVD aspect ratios, which can contain anomorphic flags. Why is this mentioned in a "HD" video thread?? Blu-ray discs and any h264 encoder set-up to encode HD material will always encode with a 1:1 pixel aspect ratio.

From what I can discern from the above paragraph, it seems that the 1.778:1 aspect mentioned is simply a display aspect ratio which is exactly the same as 16:9 (as you already mentioned). As also mentioned above (by myself) an AVCHD encoded at 1280 x 720 or 1920 x 1080 with a pixel aspect of 1:1, will naturally have a DAR of 16:9/1.778:1... No need to change anything at all. Your point about removing black borders and changing the DAR to 1.788:1 to make the video fill the screen... Still doesn't make sense, unless you are referring to chopping bits of video from the sides also. This is the ONLY way you can make a 2.35:1 video fill a 16:9 screen.

Hi, Ive been using tsMuxer for the past month and just wondering what could I do to make a VC1 movie work on my ps3 (streaming)? Ive been using MakeMKV, tsMuxer and mkv2vob to stream my blu ray to my ps3 but i cant get vc1 to work. I believe the only way to stream vc1 movie is to transcode. So I try using Mencoder on Java PS3 media server. Is there any other way to stream vc1? My issue is that my computer is too slow to using Mencoder. I even try splitting the mkv file into 6gb pieces and I still get lag. Anything else I could do to stream besides building a faster computer? Thanks

 

Hi I am really new to this sort of thing. I am a PS3 and TVersiy user. Can someone explain what I need to do in the TSMUXer program to make the movie play correctly, green bar issue and colours are wrong

 

I really need help! I just went out and bought 2 Western Digital WD Elements 1TB External HD's, for the sole purpose of playing movies on my ps3 via AVCHD Manager. I hooked one of them up to my PC, put a movie(in BD format) and avchd manager on the root of the drive, and everything seemed fine. AVCHD Manager recognized and renamed my movie properly. But when i then hooked the hd up to my ps3, it wouldn't recognize it. I tried resetting the ps3, etc., but still no sign of an external hd. I thought these drives were already formatted in FAT32, but i checked in my device manager just in case. Well, it shows up as NTFS, but Western Digital says they all come in FAT32 from the factory. So, i followed the directions from the following link: http://boardsus.playstation.com/playstation/board/message?board.id=ps3&thread.id=1832520 and i deleted the partition while in the device manager, but then when i try to run swissknive, it gives me an error and won't run. Now i'm stuck, and i really need some help. What do i do now?

 

staindroc, you can create a FAT32 partition with Windows. If that seems to fail, there are a number of disk management software applications available.

 

hi ryu, hope you can help me with my problem.

recently I have download a M2t movie file and I stream it using tversity to my ps3. I got picture without sound. after reading all the post that has something to do with that, I come to a conclusion that my problem was that ps3 doesn't support DTS 5.1. but event I try to play it in pc using gom player, the sound still won't come out. so any suggestion to my problem how to convert my M2t file to be streamed in ps3 with sound?
