Exactly right - read this article about Microsoft's XNA platform:

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Microsoft_XNA

The higher price of 360 games compared to PC versions is therefore puzzling.

The higher price of PS3 games should be easier to understand because of the more difficult programming platform plus maybe the BluRay medium.

Guess your right.Just a simple logical deduction to me... next gen console with next gen games your going to get next gen prices.not to hard for me to come to terms with.Games like gears of war and halo 3 couldnt have been made to the level of quality they will be made on the xbox so of course the newer games will rise in price.Once the new batch of games come out it will be clear to see why were paying more.

its like this you go to snag yourself a hamburger in scenario 1 and theres no cheese to put on your hamburger,no condiments,no nada to accesorize you hamburger. Now the people selling the hamburgers are going to charge you less knowing your getting the basic burger with no whopdy-do-das.Now you go to get yourself a hamburger in scenario 2 the'yve got mustard, cheese, ketchup, bacon you know the works? So you make yourself a hella burger...think burger #2 isnt worth more than burger #1... burger=disc type it remains the same in both cases as it does with the xbox and the xbox 360.the xbox 360=the extra that now facilitate that same great disc/burger but allow it to maximize its potential.

Lets be honest that was the worst analogy in the world but hey i had fun with it and was under the influence so enjoy that masterpiece.

Lol. Probably is in my top 25 :p One of the main reasons I want an Xbox 360 before PS3 is simply because it's out already (price is a lesser factor), but mainly because I like the Xbox controller. Sony's new one doesn't look that great - The Xbox S controller was perfect for driving and FPS with those big sensitive triggers. I owned a PS2 for years before I bought and Xbox, but I found myself buying Xbox versions of games like NFSU2 and Far Cry Instincts simply because of the controls...

Hey Gargamel by the time the ps3 comes out xbox 360 will be nearing that magical number that has spelled victory for all those first to reach it in sales(10 million units) and ps3 will be just getting out the gates with a million at launch.

Gargamel=The big bad ugly guy from the cartoon series the "Smurfs" and i felt it was fitting to the whole evil laugh u had going there!

@ dnglebry : 10 million consoles is not good for a years time that may be good for Microsoft but thats a bad year for Sony.Plus Sony will have 4 million consoles during it worldwide release so thats a 6 million console lead Sony will catch up before the PS3 has been on the Market for a year.

im not sure where your getting only one million at launch, here it says 3 million. did things change or are you referring to the 1 mil for regions?

"First, Sony told EB and GameStop that they would be supplying 3 million consoles at launch worldwide, 1 million more than they claimed at E3. They also broke it down by region: an even cool million for each Japan, NTSC and PAL. Please note that Sony informed retailers that these were launch day figures."

I cant wait till the 3 are all released. Bottom line, at release all systems sell well, thats just the nature of the market. A year down the line, it will be interesting to see how Sony will attract potential customers, cause one the launch hype cools down, all that is left is a $600 system a $80 games. I hope Sony has plans for the future, cause they are gonna lose my business if they dont think of something, quick;)

$80/game, im not sure where your hearing that from(grapevine?). anyway there is still ironically or not, one more fairly large game festival before the ps3 launch. i am expecting sony to have a strong showing at TGS which yet again could spark interest and carry them into and through their launch. i dont see selling 3 million units by december a problem for sony

something as simple as going over a friend's house and checking out the system can have an effect on people(if they like what they see). many people who weren't considering the 360 bought one anyway when they liked what they saw with its graphics or tested it out. the hardiest part for sony is like what your saying keeping people interested with the price being what it is over time. they are prolly not going to see many impulse buyers spending that much money at the drop of a hat, but when they have a potential fanbase of say 100+ MILLION people, i still dont think its going to be as hard as some may think...it'll prolly take a longer time for sony to once again regain and dominate the market. Especially when the one thing sony platforms are noted for....GAMES. when some of the major sequals are expected to release within a year or so of the console, it would seem likely that sony's fanbase will keep buying, but thats just what i think
