how is that lying? they wernt sure of the final specs themselves, they were not complete. the
specs they released pre e3-06 were never said to be definate, and its only what they wanted
to do. thats like me saying "i want to be a pilot" and never doing it then you calling me a liar.
its something i would love to do but dont have the cash and resources to lose.

thats true,im going off memory on this so i may be wrong but most of the polls in japan have been negative for sony and positive for nintendo with like 75% of people saying they are buying the wii because the ps3 is too expensive.Nonetheless the stage is set for sony at tgs

If people want to bring up Microsoft, then I have a point in their defense. Remember that issue with the power cables being a fire hazard? MS gave everyone who had the faulty cords (going by manufacturing date of the console I think) new and safer ones. THats customer service baby lol. There's actually one of those opinion polls opn Gamepro at the moment saying "which console do you plan to buy" (the four alternatives being Wii and PS3 and something like 'Both' and 'Haven't Decided') - the two consoles are neck and neck! That really surprised me! As for the quality of the PS3? I think waiting till it launches will be the best option; Videos don;t speak much for gameplay really, and November isn't that far off ;)

Sorry Dr. Cool what were you referring to in your last post? That the PS3's popularity will nonetheless be higher than that of the 360?

PS3 has to wrry about Nintendo before MS.They could lose their main fan base which is japan to the wii which def isnt a good thing because that gave them a large portion of their sales to domiante last gen console battle. With that in mind sony was still beating MS largely in the u.s in sales as well but yet again as you go on you want to gain fans not lose them

Price wont be the only reason for wii popularity in japan. They have games in dev that the japanese fan will really go for. Its a japanese style console. From the controler though the entire concept

it is the size of the wii japanese like due to japanese small apartments. but i think the japanese will still sell more in japan.

the wii is also a new and odd way to game, and god only knows the japanese, generally speaking, love their strange originality.

i am saying it is so small and cheap it can fit in their apartments, but i still believe no matter what that the wii is really for hardcore nintendo fanboys and after a while the wii will stop selling.

I wouldn't disagree that it's for Nintendo fanboys, but the target audience Nintendo repeatedly states they would like to see for the Wii is the casual gamers, new gamers, and gamers that once played but don't play anymore. If I were to see people like those I just mentioned playing video games, the Wii seems like a more obvious choice. The selling points of the ps3 and 360 are very tech-oriented, whereas the Wii isn't so much.

but that is just one angle Nintendo would like to come from, of course.

new gamers will look at the wii and be confused because its not what they've seen. maybe new gamers in japan will try it, but here in america people dont like drastic change. i dont like the interface of the wii, and its graphics are rivaled by the xbox. anyone who cares about gaming wont really enjoy the wii much longer than sis months to a year if that. i want tech, i dont want a junker. something with a completely different control system and graphics im tired of having on my 5200 does in no way appeal to me. i would like the retro gaming, but im sure the money payed wont go to the original developers, just some big corperation buying off the rights. id rather use roms.

On the strength of the Wii-mote, Nintendo will do very well in Japan. Besides which, at such a cheap price it would be kind of stupid of any gamer who's remotely (ha! a Pun! lol... Thats gold!) interested in any of Nintendos in-house games not to buy one! For people who want a next-gen console but wouldn't be able to afford the 360 or PS3 for a while, the Wii will provide a good fix (maybe even a permanent one if they can keep the interesting titles flowing). My concern is that either the controller won't be utilised cleverly enough, or it will be overused, turning otherwise good games into novelty, or simply resulting in a spate of cheap-a*s novelty games flooding Nintendos system.

anubis66: I tend to aggree with you there.I really think the wii controller will be awkward for most people and a turn off.

I like the wii because of it's price point and great exclusives, but if it were $599 nobody would even give it a second look.
