OK, so I know the 60GB does hardware emulation for PS2 discs and the 80GB is strictly software. My question is, does the 60GB soley rely on the EE chip for this or does it have the same code in it's firmware to do software emulation like the 80GB as well?

I think it relies solely on the EE,if certain games dont work i think they would be fixed with firmware updates.

Also the US and Japanese are the only ones with the EE,Europe does not have the EE.

So what does mine use instead? I live in the UK and have a 60GB. Is it a lower class type chip? Does this not support as much BC than the EE chip? Sony dont like europe does it? First they make us wait forever for the PS3, then they use a crapper chip and plus we have a boring PSN, the US and ASIA regions have a lot more content than the Europe one.
: ( I suppose thats just the way it is.

Yours does software emulation like the current 80GB models do.

Im not completly sure if its software emulation or a cheaper chip.
I preordered the PS3 6 months before it was released here in the UK,around christmastime i heard they were taking out the EE and they were going to use software emulation, however i read a few months ago that the used a cheap chip.

So whether it uses software emulation or a cheaper chip,it does NOT have 100% reliable backwards compatability.

I to get annoyed at the fact we have to pay more than everywhere else, but thats just the way it is.

Ah ok, thanks for the info. I knew mine wasnt 100% BC, because when I tried tekken tag, it seemed to run in slow motion. I just tried Star Ocean:Till the End of Time and that worked fine, so did devil may cry 3. Actually Tekken Tag is the only game that wont work now I think about it, which im not bothered about because ive got Tekken DR online anyway.
Is there a thread anywhere that says what games work, on which models and in what regions?
