I have a PS3 that won't go green before red light starts flashing. I turn main power on from the back red light stays solid. Soon as I push the front power on button it starts flashing red. The green light will not come on before the red light starts flashing. The fan will start up once I push the on power button but only runs for 1 or 2 seconds than stop. Is this an overheating issue. I have tried swapping hard drives but same result. I bought this console used and there is no warranty on it. So I need to fix this if I can.
You will only see a yellow light for about 1 second. It sounds to me like the YLoD. Try doing the YLoD repair and see if that corrects your problem.
I've read that if it's the older 60gb model, that what you said is it's version of the ylod. I fixed a friends that had this exact same problem with the ylod repair. Good luck.
i have the same problem its the power surply on mine any way i have two 60 gigs and one power surply has the red light still untill you power it on and then it just keeps flashing red when i swap it 4 my other power surply it boots up fine so i need anther power surply id try that first or borrow one off some one just to try
