It was a good presentation but tbh I was let down by this. All forums were posting that there were new hacks to be unveiled during this, but instead we got info on what they believe will lead to the new hacks.

Still good news, but still a couple months wait before we should see something physical and usable.

Something that annoyed me is that it also states noone really cared about hacking the ps3 until otheros was removed, and thats the only reason why it took so long to hack, after otheros was removed the hackers wanted it back.

the guys did a demo video after the talk which is linked here

So why did that annoy you. Just curious. I don't know of many other reasons. I thought that the PS3 was always being looked at, just not by the right people, and not with the fervor of the past 5 months. OtherOS removal was something that affected such a large user-base of the "hacker" demograph. It sort of gave the important people something to get together to conquer and take back.

I did not create this thread in order to point that ps3 backups for future firmwares is now more possible than ever. I wanted to share with you the fact that if all these become true, a new day will arise for all ps3 users and we will see interesting new things.

Of course there will be a great impact in the huge chapter of ps3 backups. Having this in mind have a look at the following link about GT5 decrytion...

I agree with you... I think this is what we can understand from the last minute news.

What I've taken from all this is that since it is the private key, they cannot block it (like they could with public keys). In other words, it is both completely and permanently hacked. And we need only wait a little while before tools are released that allow us to do whatever we want with it, without any fear of updates decreasing compatibility/functionality. :D

    am i rite?

We don't know yet. Sony released a statement that they are working on a patch for the network side of things. This could mean some way to detect CFW. At that point the only weapon they have in their arsenal is the ban hammer. Although great progress has been made, it may still be a cat & mouse game for a little while longer.

It's gonna turn into the PSP where they come out with an update like everyday! Though, since we have the private keys now, it's going to be a lot easier to crack the updates.

...and Sony really can't push daily updates...the non-jb users would throw a fit, and the jb users would use proxy hacks so they only had to update every 1-2 weeks. Fact is, they have lost. They will continue to try to f**k with people, and I am sure they will cause plenty of headaches, but we have control over the hardware we own...and sony really has no way of doing anything about that. Even if they do make an update that is not jb-able, the scene will just add the new features/keys/etc to an older CFW.

Exactly why its a battle we've already won.... we just needa endure it.

What all this means is that we can 'fix' updates faster than they can patch... and they aren't able to send out updates more than once a week because it would be annoying for ps3 users who are on a slower network or just get annoyed easily... We win...

We basically have their signature, and we can sign any check we want...

I can't believe geohot hasn't been shot for publicizing the keys for all to see... at least fail0verload didn't release them and just said the concepts... and the hackers would know what they were saying..

So genius of sony to make the random number only once and use the same one everywhere... lol
