Not sure what to do here. I carried out a ylod repair to a fat 60gb and when i tried to test it after putting it all back together i am not getting a red stand by light. It seems completely dead. No bleeps no ylod indications, nothing.

I swapped the power pack with a known working unit and still nothing.

Does anyone know why this is. I have carried out numerous ylod repairs and I have never came across this, so I don't think it was anything to do with my repair process, however I could be wrong.

Any help with this would be greatly appreciated as it is not my console and I would dearly like to repair it.

    Thanks

hi, i have a 60gb ps3 and i also had the ylod, so i did the reflow once then the second time i did it i put it all back together and had no lights or anything. but what i did notice was that there was still a surge of power going through the power suply. so i looked and asked on the net and found out that it was the on/off button, so what o did was take the small wirestrip out of the board and turned it around and put it back in and it worked. you will need a new one in time as there get worn down, hope this is what it is for you and hope it works

    HI Lurch

    Thanks for the reply.

Can you be a little more specific on the wirestrip you mentioned. Not quite sure which one you mean.

    Thanks again.

    Hi Lurch

Eventually worked out what you were talking about and you were right. It was so easy to overlook the small on/off ribbon cable connections.

Anyway I promptly ordered a new cable of ebay for 10 quid(well a reclaimed one) and it worked a treat.

Thanks again for your post and pointing me in the right direction as I was panicking a little because it wasn't my console.

    Cheers
