I would use an HDMI cable for the fact that it will give the best picture, and then in the settings set it up so that the ps3 automatically sets up the best resolution for you.

    1. Go to Settings On the XMB
    2. Under settings go to Video Output Settings
    3. When asked to select type of connector, Select HDMI
    4. When asked Select the method for setting the maximum resolution Choose Automatic.
    5. For Audio Do the same.
    6. Enjoy.

    P.S. Hope this helps :)
