PS3 Issues: Report and Discuss Problems.

after posting that i was on my ps3 and it flashed and a blue screen came up the way it acted at first i thought it was bricked but after that my defaults were restored and i had to format my hdd and i havent had any problems with the controller working since kind of weird but after months of frustration it all works fine now

 

Question on the system update 1.81. I downloaded this software about two weeks ago after having my PS3 for about a month. The update does a great job on DVD's, however, it will not let me save any of my games to the hard-drive. I was playing MLB2k7 for about an hour & tried to save but no luck. It just froze on me & I couldn't get to the save screen.

Any advice? Is there something that I need to change to let this happen? Do I need to save on external memory?

 

ok i've tried to take out my ps3 hard drive an way possible, but that blue screw just wont budge!! i even tried an electric screwdriver and still nothing. my ps3 is a 60GB version and i need to take it out because i tried to reinstall linux 5.0 on my ps3 using a sdtv. everything went well the first time i installed it but when i tried the second time it came up with an error message saying it couldnt find something and how it needed to reboot..but when it did it was just a black creen, i couldnt see anything so i held down the reset button (cuz no usb ports were working either so i couldnt even turn it on with my control pad)and still nothing...the green light was on but that was it..just total darkness..i really dnt know what to do so if anyone does i would really appreiciate it.

Hey, you know how on RFoM how if you don't have a headset you can listen through the speakers, right? Well, I left it on when I played Calling all Cars (hearing headsets through TV), and now that I DO have a headset, it won't register w/ Calling all Cars. Is there a way to fix this without sys restore?

 

You have to make sure its selected under accessory settings. If you havent selected it then things will continue to work as though you don't have a headset.

I have USA PS3 and i am in the UK i Updated my PS3 to the 1.93 UK Vergin so many pepal says it's dangerose to do that so i got scared now what i want is the way how to Ubdate my USA PS3 from UK 1.93 to the latest US upbdate, i think 1.10 is out because every time i start blackhowk it always ask me to Ubdate to 1.10 in the UK vergin i dont know if they have it in the US by now but any way i jsut want to convert the UK update to the US so my PS3 would be safe.

By the way i trayd to update my PS3 from the UK 1.93 to the USA 1.93, with a PC Update meen with the USB, i couldnt do that and i dont know what is the problem, the way i am doing is this way i make a new in my USB and i name it PS3 then i make another new file and name it UPDATE then i download the PS3 ubdate from the US playstation website then after all that i conect my USB then i go to Ubdate with a USB and when it search for the file it doesnt find it, it says there is no file, so does any one now how to solve this problem or is it becuase

 

or is it becuase i have the UK1.93 and can not downlaod the US untel there is a new Update then i Update the USA one and is it going to be safe to Update to the USA update.

@sallab: You can't update from a US to a UK firmware (or between any regions) if its the same firmware number.

Download and update to the US firmware 2.00 from here:

Could someone please advise me, I'm buying my son who's 11, a PS3 for Xmas, is the only difference between the 40 and 60gb is that the 60 plays the PS2 games that he will probably trade in and buy PS3 games

 

Get him a 40GB. Like you said, he probably won't be playing much PS2 games anyway. The hard drive space really isn't a big deal. If it came down to it, you could just install a bigger hard drive in there yourself.

 

hi i got a ps3 plugged up thru HDMI to a phillips 60 inch hdtv. got my ps3 in april and played for a while enjoyin Fall of man online. When I upgraded to 2.0 I noticed Resistance didnt quite fit on the screen anymore. Its like it's too big for my 60 inch screen. Turns out actually even the ps3 main menu is too big. I've looked and looked thru options on the ps3 and changed this and that. looked thru options for my tv but found nothing. You can change tv format while in AV1, AV2, and AV3 but not while under HDMI. I can change the ps3 to 480p and it seems to fit screen correctly but looks all big like for someone with glasses and then whats the point of the tv being widescreen? If ANYONE has ANY idea to help me out here I would greatly appreciate it. THANKS!

 

Try upgrading to 2.01, Sony has fixed some bugs which were in 2.00.

 

I have upgraded to 2.01 and it's the same. If I load the ps network homepage and look thru downloadable games or whatever I cant see everything there. It's pretty damn lame. Why would they destroy a good thing?

 

I think your tv must be on a wrong display size setting. No one else is having your problem. Mine is perfect just like before. You should do some snooping around in your tv's settings. Good luck.

 

Oh joy, what do you know you happen to be right. I did yet some more messing around with the tv and figured out my problem. This http://www.p4c.philips.com/files/6/60pp9100d_37/60pp9100d_37_pss_aen.pdf is my tv. When in AV1, AV2, or AV3 I can just press <, >, or the format button on the remote to change display formats. I got use to pressing < and > which doesnt work while in HDMI. The format button however does. Problem solved, go figure. Sony shouldnt mess me up like that. I dont like change. lol THANKS for the help!
