"360 controler is just like the xbox controler but worst." lol, i know thats you personal opinion, but i just want to point out that most gaming websites have voted xbox 360 controller as the best controller of all time, whcih also includes the dual shock.

While the 360 controller is good, Dual Shock is still better. IMO. The shittiest controller of this generation was the GCN, and i still dont see how a remote will make me play better games with old graphics. And seriously, Nintendo's design has been seen before, actually Microsoft did the gyroscope first in some of their mouses, AND THEY did the 6 degree motion first, if anything Microsoft>>them both in Innovation.
when you actually see the nintendo wii controller being used you undertand that its a lot like pc mouse and keyboard, in the sence that when playing metroid prime (fps) you hold your hand out as the gun and by moving your arm you move the screen, then by pressing a button on the remote you shoote, this enables pin point accuracy, just like the mouse on a pc as you are controller it single handedly with one hand. then with the other hand you use the nun chuck thing whcih enables you to move in the direction you point you remote, now after seeing this in action and seeing that metroid primes graphics were also very impressive i have to say thats a cool way of play fps games. oh and if you do not want to play using the wii mote then you can can use a controller they made, which looks like the old sega conteoller.
Looks good to me, but only because I like the PS1/PS2 pad anyway Not tried a 360 pad, so can't comment. As for Sony ripping off nintendo, I don't actually see how. It's the same old pad with some tilt sensors in, it seems a lot more basic than the new Nintendo controller. And besides, tilt control joypads have been around for a while on PC, so I guess everyone copied them huh?
I still wish they could have left some sort of rumble in it. I just dont think it will feel the same playing without it.
I own the xbox 360 and love it and i believe that ps3 will be as equally great if not a tad better but not worth the price tag. Not to speak for anyone in the forum but i dont think they are mad that Sony "stole" the ideas in question such as the controller and xbox live ideas but its the fact that Sony so openly bashed those ideas and features to then go on and as u say "borrow" the ideas and concepts.If you dislike something you dont use those to concepts as a big foundation of change in something ur doing in this case designing a console thats just ridiculous.If anyone agrees or disagrees with what ive said just let me know but please be intellegent in your responses dont just say im wrong
@wooopz Yeah your probably right, 2 incarnations with rumble, then having dropped will feel strange. I just hope one of my mates buys one, I'm certainly spending that much lol @rikjames or anyone really, When did Sony bash XBL? I don't pay too much attentio to consoles really, more PC games, but it seems kinda daft when Sony had online play with the PS2 (Socom2 was it?)...as good or bad as it was
In my humble opinion, Sony have done the right thing and stuck with the best controller design. There is supposed to be 2 triggers instead of the lower shoulder buttons and it's also motion sensitive. The overall design (based on the previous analogue controllers) is one that shouldn't be messed around with. Otherwise you end up with very dodgy designs, as the 'Boomerang@ shows. Remember, if it ain't broke, don't try to fix it. Well done Sony.
my thing is i love the x360 controller because of it's weight. I was hoping the ps3 would be heavier than the ps2 controller. but the motion sensor is SWEET! great for GTHD. but i wonder if the controller is to seperate x360 and ps3 and limit multiplatformers.
Dr.Cool that could be true. Sony might have brought out the controller so certain games could be multiplatformed between the Wii and PS3, isolating the 360? The problem with that idea is that Microsoft could probably release (if it came to it) a motion sensing controller within a month.
They already did on the PC years ago, so yeah it wouldn't take MS long to play catch up in the controller area if needs be.
Even the new xbox vision which is just a fancy name for the xbox 360 camera has motion sensing capabilties and thats due out later this yr.The whole motion sensing and all that isnt that new,its not like its groundbreaking technology.Its been used for the pc but as sony will see its kinda limited.Nintendo has seemed to do a wonderful things with their controller but it just looks like sonys controller doesnt have anything on the wii-mote,its restricted to racing games and having minor impact on other games. While the wii-mote is largerly involved in almost ever game i have seen nintendo to be showing.Oh and andother thing is the durability of the ps2 controllers was suspect before and it doesnt seem like they addressed that issue this go round either.Ive dropped my 360 controller like 10 times and thing just keeps on ticking,maybe im just a jack-a$$ who hsa butterfingers but i think we all like durability when spending 40-50dollars on a controller.
Don't like it. The boomerang looked more comfortable. That's why when I'm using the x-box I prefer the big bulky controller .
As for stealing the motion sensor idea, I guess Nintendo actually stole the concept from that old motrorcycle game in the arcade where you sit on a bike and lean.. Kind of sucks they didnt switch it up more but atleast we know it will be a descent design.
Its not that they stole the motion sensor idea its that they mocked the controller design and idea only to borrow the concept.I keep finding myself writing that over and over and fans to the big S ingnore it.
THis is my personal oppinion it is not an invitation for personal attack. I find that the ps2 controller is too cramped. I do not like having the sticks right at the bottom of the controller i always got sore hands while playing. Personally i like the 1 up 1 down that the xbox and game cube had, it was easy to use and made the buttons feel more accesiable. After having held a 360 controller i find it much more comfortable than any other controller. When i think about it, it makes sense for the d-pad to be at the bottom on the left because when holding out your hands like you are gripping an imaginary controller the thumb points at 45degrees, roughly where a 360 left control stick is. But i really think that the Wii wins with the controller because of coolness, originality, and finally making games more interactive for the player. However this is just my personal oppinion (please dont shoot me).
Honestly, I never had any trouble with the Gamecube controller. Anandtech even preffered the GCN controller to both the dual shock 2 and the original xbox controller. Well, I'm not saying that motion sensing is something new and unheard of... but let me make this easier to understand. The original "boomerang" controller never had this functionality. It had bad publicity, but in some of my first posts, I still thought that the negative feedback was childish, and that the controller would do just fine. Anyways, the boomerang controller was redesigned, for one reason or another. The motion sensing is a recent feature. Warhawk was a rather early demo considering the graphics of the thing aren't that stunning as some other ps3 counterparts. It was the only game using the feature. Considering Sony substituted forced feedback for this functionality, don't you think that more than just one, DEMO would've used it? This decision has been fairly recent. Furthermore, do you believe that it was based of some of the other motion sensing controllers (MS/Logitech sidewinder 1999, for example) or from Nintendo, previously Sony's top competitor whose controller, with motion sensing touted long before this year's e3, was recieving such enthuastic feedback? I don't think there is much wrong with Sony's controller, but I also feel that it's naive to say the Sony's controller was independently designed from other controllers. Honestly, SOny's controller is a frankenstein of a project. I like the dual shock 2's, but no more or less than the GCN or xbox controllers. (I would also like to note that I even liked the original xbox controllers. Even better than teh controller S) The biggest part that irks me is that Sony tried to make a big deal out of the feature. It is nowhere as advanced as the Nintendo Wii-mote. Sony is known for hyping features that seem to be better than their counterpart competitors. I still don't know why the controller has recieved such attention. The selling-points of the PS3 are everywhere BUT it's controller...
