PS3 Price announced

People said that about the PSP - What did it do? 10 mill in 10 months with a staggered release.

Do you remember what everyone said about it - too expensive and tough competition in the DS.

The PS3 is going to sell out everywhere for a LONG time.

 

well, the psp although expensive was nothing we had seen before, at the momment all games on ps3 look exactly the same as games on xbox 360 in graphical terms.

 

Great point connally that is right people did say that the PSP was going to cost to much.The PS3 is going to be nothing you ever seen before.

The console is WAY overdue, and still not going to be seen for months.

It costs way more than the 360.

It (lets be honest here) will look graphically similar.

The biggest game (GTA4) is coming out simultaneously on the 360.

They lie to fans (claiming pre-renders are in game)

But to this day millions of people still say -
'Sony is the bestest, it pwns the 360 soooo bad lolol'

I bet they still sell millions of consoles *sigh* you'll never learn.


As for Blu Ray - it's just another Sony betamax/mini disc *watch this space*

Too me though, Rabbity presents facts, admits good points about the PS3 and only makes points he believes to be true. Although he prefers Microsoft to Sony, he probably likes Nintendo too.

Doesn't sound like a fanboy to me. More likely just p*ssed off that Sony is made out to be godlike when it's on level par with Microsoft when it comes to gaming.

the problem with sony is,their marketing has a lot to be desired,everything they say,you can almost guarantee is incorrect,until they are about to launch,they copied microsoft in the online gaming side of things,they want to introduce blu-ray technolgy,that the movie industry might not even adopt to yet,sure microsoft make stuff ups as well,but at least they are honest about it when they do,they don't go looking for ridiculous technological excuses.sony's customer care has a lot to be desired as well,i have found them difficult to get along with,microsoft they are very helpful,but they do have a weak point too,they have pakistanians or indian representatives,that you can hardly understand,here in oz land any how
and @ conolly,i cannot see sony taking that big a loss in a console,microsoft have stated that they average about a $75 loss per console,retailing at $399.96USD,so can you imagine the loss sony would be making,it would excceed the $399-499 per console,as sony has stated,it has cost them a fair amount to actually make a console.sony are making the blu-ray players as well,so they would be after the profits too,it's just not feasible for one subsiduary of sony to make a profit from their dvd players and run a loss on the consoles,according to sony,it costs a fair amount to produce either one,so their profits are not going to be that great...IMO any how

 

LOL OMG how could Microsoft be on the level of Sony when they only sold 25 million compared to Sony 103.million as of March this year.That not on par to me...lol.You guys act if everything Microsoft say is the truth its not they lie just like Sony its call being in a Biz.Thats going to happen its the Buyer job to figure out which is the truth & whats not.But to say Microsoft is Angels is flat out crazy.

 

@ damondash,you have to remember,majority of the sales were japanese,supporting their own countries company,i'm not disputing the fact that sony have sold more consoles than microsoft,but i tell you,microsoft have done an incredible job for a new kid on the block for consoles,they have nearly caught up on sales of their console,in fact they may even out sell sony yet,now that the xbox 360 is out,the price of the old brick has come down considerably compared to the PS2,and sony does not have any plans of reducing the price of the PS2 of no more than $20

The games is where both money make there profit, they put a big investment into there consoles. They make the profit loss back, mainly from games sales.

I know Sony have sold more consoles but that is becoming the past.
I honestly believe Microsoft and Sony are now on par when it comes to market. Not many people I know are willing to spend £450 on a gaming console to be honest. My friends where waiting on PS3, however, when they heard the price they bought a 360 the SAME DAY!

Yeah, but you have to consider the quantity in which they sell games. Everyone buys one console. When it comes to games though, they buy them throughout the consoles lifespan. If Sony where to get 5% for each game sold they'd probably still come out on top.

 

i'd say that even alot of the $599 systems would sell out... like the xbox360 premiums did. people were paying like $1000 for those things.

 

connolly i admit that i favour xbox 360 over anything else, but when i see somehting good i do not look away, so when i saw the new super smash bros braul on the wii, i thought to myslf i have to get a wii, but with sony all i keep hearing is old sequals, like teken god knows what number and blue ray. if i was trying to sell a ps3 i would show off its blue tooth, linex, 60g harddrive, the cell, but NO all people seam to be talking about is the blue ray disk and how the games will slowly overtake the xbox 360, well to answer those two i say, blue ray is a waste of money, considering its nothing revelutionary like dvd, was against vhs, and about games pulling away from xbox 360 games later on, well you do not know this, in fact it could do the exact opposite, considering, most devs and anylists are saying the graphics card for the xbox 360 is slightly better then the ps3 card, not to mention unified shader which Nvidea is now going to be using from next year after realising that they can not do without it.

basically, connoly the reason why i might sound like bill gates girlfriend is b/c when debating against ps3 fanboys its actually nearly impossible to make them see whats in front of them, therefore i can sometimes get cought up in the momment and sound like a complete fanboy, whcih i can tell you i am deffinatly not, b/c i tomorrow i saw somthing great on the ps3 then i would most likely buy it.

I am a true player. As a player I started with the Atari 2600 machine. Then Sega master system and Nintendo machines. Then Sega Genesis, PS1, PS2, Xbox and now XBOX 360. I was thinking about the PS3 but as I already bought the 360 I realize this before buying the system, is as follows:
1) The cheaper unit (without the ports for HDMI and slots for cards) will be $500.00 without tax.
2) The price of games is not yet released..... for me I think it will be like $70.00 for a new format called Blu-Ray....
3) If you add at least 1 or 2 games what will be the price of the unit....??
Also If I need to buy another controller... without rumble and a bad copy cat of the Wii ... what is the price of the whole console with the extra controller and the games?? It will be near $1000.00 ...

So If a lot of fan people whant this unit expect shortages and higher prices at Eb@y. A lot of people will buy the unit to sell it at higher prices....

Enjoy the ride to come, I am stickin with 360 and the Wii for the price of a PS3, period.

 

Everyone needs to stop being naive. The ps3 and the 360 are the same damn price, BUT under certain circumstances. The 360 premium retails for US$400 and the ps3 will be $600. SO you ask, "how are they the same???" well they are one in the same if you want the next generation in dvd playback or you pay for online. If there is nothing else you understand from this post its this...Sony put everything into their system (namely blu ray and free online as of today). M$ however chose not to. If you are one of the unfortunate who buy the add on HD DVD player or pay the annual fee of $50 or w/e it is for the EXTRA online features you actually will end up paying MORE than any1 would pay for the ps3. WHY?? well for sake of argument lets say the dvd player costs $100, and you use the full online service for 3 years(3x50) so thats $150, and you bought the premium pack $400. Basically to have a fully functional and as close to equal to the ps3 as you can get.. that is actually in fact ABOUT $650! thats roughly $50 more than the going price for the ps3...with all features inbox, with no add ons.

so im not sure people understand all this, but sony is providing all future PS3 owners EVERYTHING out of box. But if one doesnt want a $600 unit then that is why there is the lesser package. Basically sony and microsoft did the same thing... the only diff is that sony offers everything from the start, and microsoft used add ons to avert people's attention from overall pricing....

so is one better than the other??? well if your like me and want everything, then sony is your winner, if your some1 who just wants to play video games and could care less about next gen dvd, or the extra online features, then the 360 or maybe the cheaper ps3 would be a wise choice. Much is said that the graphics are the same, so what is the determining factor? price?? games?? who knows, but to say the ps3 is overpriced etc., i think some should know; you will NEVER get the full experience of your 360 w/o forking over just about if not more money. As for me i'll be happy with the ps3, but again thats just me

 

omg im sick of you people that bring up prices i own a gamecube wich sucks because it was cheap. wii is highly overpriced its been said by the press when they say nintendo has to sell 1/2 of the systems that sony has to make the same profit your paying for crap.

the wii is like a 1990 corolla for 1,000 dollars and the ps3 is like A 2006 ferrari selling for 3,000 dollars and you nintendo "kids" are saying ohh ill take the corolla because its cheaper.

its cheaper but you can easily aford both. and the better quality product will be a hell of alot funner way cooler and worth every dime
