Yo TSR. So do you think we can listen to music while we wait 10 minutes? Or do we have do just sit there til the screen goes dark? I also have a few vids on my hd so i wanna kill time during the disc still spinning. Let me kno thank you peace

headuno, sure you can do everything you want, watch flicks or listen to music on PS3 while waiting for the 10 minutes, no problem with that. Just don't do any activity on the disc.

yantz, your PS3 bought in Singapore is probably NTSC-J, so compatible with Swap Magic 3.6 Japanese version, just like the one I received and tested a few posts above. Just look on the back of the console or on the box to confirm, it should say NTSC-J.

I've been thinking I might get rid of my Swap Magic 3.6 Japan version since I already have a big TOC disc for DVD backups and I'm gonna end up buying an original PS2 CD for swap like REZ anyway.
So if you want my "Swap Magic 3.6 + Japan version" discs or if anyone else reading this thread is interested, let me know. (brand new in original slipcase with the piece of plastic to swap on ps2)

Yeah Swap Magic 3.6 + is useful as a big TOC DVD & CD, but it doesn't stop the laser either dude!! Wtf do you have a magical version maybe? :p

Nope, DUDE, i don´t have an magical version or...hey, wait a minute, hooo yes i have an magical one, because it says SWAP "MAGIC" 3.6 plus.Look man, im not the only one confirming that it works, if you read some late posts you will find out that there are more users confirming it.Im a modchiper for quite some years and a Moderator on www.gsmpt.net in the Consoles/Dvd sector, and i know very well what am i saying.I was the first one giving the alert for the danger to swap any kind of media in the PS3 unit with the Laser spinning.I think you dont even know how to see if the Laser is spining or if its just the motor making the DVD totate at a low rotacion. But you are the smartest, so let me know what a good solution will you find out.

want me to speak my mind?
I think you're a reseller of Swap Magic looking for a way to make new sales.
Both Pizzag and me confirmed it, Swap Magic DOES NOT STOP THE LASER.

So i call shens on what you're saying, yeah that's right.

i dont give a f*ck what do you think.Try to focus on the topic, and maybe you could help someone instead of being sarcastic and useless.

Once more i confirm: PS3 unit with v1.70 and Swap Magic 3.6 plus runs all my Ps2 backups and the laser stop few seconds after i get the message "Load disc".

    and also:

    user chrissy12:

"i can confirm swap magic version 2, stops the disc spining right away whn says insert disc + works on my 1.7 ps3"

So has you can see im not the only one saying it.i wont answer you anymore.

    Be well everybody.

well don't answer me if that's more convenient for you, like I care.
I'm just saying what I see: for me Swap Magic 3.6 PLus doesn't stop the laser, period.

If people already have a good CD & DVD original with big TOC, Swap Magic is completely useless.

Plz guys, post videos of the Swap Magic not stopping or stopping the spinning disc.

It would be cool if it stopped, cos sometimes we just wanna play a race of crazy frog racer with a friend, and then a quick match of king of fighters, for example. And waiting 10 minutes to swap discs suck.

AGAIN I ASK if anyone knows if we could just make a switch to turn off the laser and the motor... Does anyone knows eletronics? I'm just an ordinary guy messing around and that knows nothing about eletronics. In fact I don't like it much hehehe, I'm just doing it cos I wouldn't risk to pay someone to do it for me, but I really wanna play backups.

Do you guys know where I can get a list of CD TOC (original).
Currently I am satify with God of War to boot DVD9 and Man Hunt for DVD5. I just need a CD game with big TOC. Any recommendation? Thanks.

I just installed the mod, I only dont know so good how to use it (I heard wait 10 minutes and laser will stop). I´m Dutch and my English is pretty bad so to read the whole topic will take many hours for me, maybe someone can make a list with: how to use it, what to do and what not to do (things how ps3's get broken here). It would be very useful for me and other newbies with this mod. This would also prevent people getting a bricked ps3.

GODOFWAR is DVD9 dual layer, you cant use that to boot DVD5, it iwll hurt the laser.

Thats why he uses Manhunt. As that is a DVD5 disc as he says just afew letters after saying he uses God of War for DVD9...

my mistake :) btw will swapping within 3 seconds (while spinning) hurt the laser? Ive been doing that for a while since I dont wait for so long. havent died on me yet.

    No probs :)

Most people say it will but it isnt the laser that screws up loading DVDs, it a chip on the board under the BRD. I dont use it no more so cant really help you a great deal.

    hi guys,

I just wanted to submit an idea I had that could avoid risking the laser.
    The following video
shows how to make backup via XMB. As you can see in this video its possible to eject the CD while the OS is "frozen".
I am thinking maybe its possible to use the same technique to SWAP a ps2 game.

It is maybe a stupid idea, but here is my theory.
If tou make a switch on the power suply of the Blu-ray player (smallest thing you have to unplug if you want to install the mod not the one underneed drive), your laser and motor will stop and you can safely switch disc.
Probably the ps3 will crash or the game will disappear from the xmb, but also small chance it works.

USE AT OWN RISK, I'M NOT RESPONSABLE FOR ANY DAMAGE.

I have a prety simple straightforward idea that may solve the problem with burning out the lense what if u were to create a small motor mechanisim like device that was to hold a game in the drive all the time and spin it when needed and whenever u were to put another game in while the drive sucked the game in the perminant disc would be lifted up out of the way later today i think i will try to construct such a device i have prety mediocre electrical skills. also i have another idea for the device an another warning do not use the nyko intercooler it damages your system use the PS3 Air Flo Cooler by pelican it uses its own power suply which also has another plus that u can use the power from it to power your disk swap switch.

Chaos, david and gruik, i think you guys should stop smoking crack. :p
No offense but your ideas aren't technically possible.

pspwiimod, yes swaping in 3 seconds damages the laser:
first the disc is still spinning so it could scratch the lense while being eject, secondo the laser tries to focus like crazy on a ghost disc and this most likely what kills it. tertio the laser doesn't recalibrate for the inserted backup meaning it's lifespan decreases dramatically.
By waiting for 10 minutes, the disc doesn't have any risk of scracthing the lense, the laser is idling so it doesn't try to focus like crazy and when you launch the game after inserting the backup it recalibrates for the backup. Really waiting is the best solution, 0 risks whatsoever.

Brazilguy, my swap magic 3.6 discs went back to the seller as i don't have a use for them. I can assure you they don't stop the disc spinning or the laser focussing while swaping, so it's exactly the same as booting with a large toc game.
