you must complete one offer. stamps is a good one to do because it is a free trial

Can I please get a link of how it looks like so I know what to buy? So I should just walk to a store and ask for the "regular philips"?

Also, does the swap still work on 1.9 FW?

I just found out that it works with FW 1.90 but whats the size of the screwdriver that I need to open the BR drive? Is it T15? Someone must know the answer.....

Also happened to me. pspwiimod, do you maybe know if you can fix this for free by soldering a wire or something.
Its not that bad, but you always have to use swap switch to change disc.

pspwiimod, do you know if it is safe to press the eject button and then use swap switch to get disc out?

I found here a solution for if a wii doesnt insert and eject discs anymore.
Maybe you can do the same by soldering over a chip that broke (bud wich chip is it)?

Ok, so advice for everyone attempting this mod:
TAKE YOUR TIME TO READ THE DAMN THREAD FULLY.
Everything is there with pictures and explanations.
There is 0 risks to break the ps3 if you are careful and do exactly what's said.
Just read everything especially around page 6-7. Don't you think your ps3 is worth spending an hour reading?
David, I still believe nothing has burnt in your ps3. Open the damn thing and check the sensor.
Of course I hope you have removed the original wires to the motor as explained pretty much everywhere in this thread?
Only the ones coming from the switch should be there.
I feel sorry for you guys with dead parts but really i don't have any idea how you got there.
    Later,

    TSR

I just opened my ps3 and the sensor and metal cover, all looks fine.
I didnt removed the original wires from on the motor (to have original functions). I only added 2 wires on the motor and made a switch on one sensor wire. I didnt always disabled the sensor when swapping disc, but if that should cause the my problem, I dont think it would happen when putting together the system. Maybe ChaosEnvy and pspwiimod (with same problem) can tell how they built the mod, maybe we just did something wrong.

I can switch original discs now by press the eject button (disc stops spinning) and then swap switch. And put other disc in and load it with swap switch. But I still dont have a switch so it is extra work for me to change a disc.

It happened to me after the motor acting really weird. I believe there was a short somehow, motor was spinning weirdly faster than normal and it died on me. higher voltage went through the switch and probably killed that part.

wait i think i know what happened u said u didn't remove original wires from the motor u just connected the new ones thats what i did at first maybe when u used swap switch the the powered from the battery not only traveled to the motor but traveled back into the bored and caused a short cause the drive worked the first time i used the mod after i was complete with it i clicked th eject to see if it worked than i used switch and it stooped working

That can be right, but if you dont remove the original wires, you cant use eject button too (only when uninstal the mod by solder wires back).
But the moment my eject button died, I didnt use the swap switch at all.
I had my system opened to see how long it takes before the motor + laser stop working (to know when swap disc safe). After that I put my system back together and got weird ''tak tak tak'' noise when starting up system. Got that noise 2 times more and then the eject system died.
So maybe it you have a change it dies when you put it back togerther (and toch something).
So has anyone else who didnt remove the original wires the problem of not working eject button?

i didnt get a tak tak noise also i didnt remove original wires cause i wante to use eject button also and i dint want another switch so left it so im thinkn if it was left when u use eject switch the batery would send a small charge to the BD bord and might have fried a circuit but this problem made me think of something if u can find the exact wire that gives power thu the laser diode and put a switch on it and the disc spindle u may be able to disable them while swap but this also leaves room for other options like a modchip connecting right to the laser diode that could tell it a disk is in their
