On a other ps3 hacks site they found a new methode to play ps2 backups. I dont know if I can give the link, but the methode is based on this methode, you have to open your ps3 too, but you dont have to solder anything. This method works better than that one, but someone on that site is going to buy a blu-ray burner to test if you can swap a blu-ray disc with a blu-ray backup.
SOrry if this is already asked but is there any method of playing ps2 backups without taking apart my ps3 via hacking or something because if it doesn't work I'm screwed
If there should be a software method to play backups we wouldn't open our ps3's. So this is the only way (on the internet, maybe someone has other way) right now. If you're not sure about yourself you can do the mod you better buy a second hand ps2 to play backups or just play original games on ps3.
Hey i got a quick question. I want to do this to my ps3 but don't know how to do any of this myself is there anyone one here that is willing to do it for me. I wouldn't mind shipping it to someone but would like some on in nyc better as i can take it to them and back please let me know
Quick question! Does it really work? and also is it worth risking it? I dotn know much about these things... so just wanted to know how many of you guys got ps2 backups runing on ur ps3 system. All the best guys! Asfahaan
If I see your signature you allready have a ps2. Sure it works (with backward compitable games) but if you have a ps2 next to your ps3 it certainly is not worth the risk.
OK, this is what i did - I bought Hori Coolfan 3, 3.3 Voltage Regulator/Stabiliser, One 12-contact switch (On-ON), One 6-contact whitch (On-Off-On) I did the same thing, guys in this forum topic had done. But instead of using two AA bataries, I used 5V source and 3.3 V Regulator. Where did I get this source??? -- As i already mensioned I bought Hori coolfan 3 -- I got rid of one cooller, so i had two wires left (5v + and -) The reason, why i used a regulator and did not use resistors is simple. The Coolfan connects to a USB slot and USB has 5V voltage, but the Current doesn't equal to constant (so we can't use Ohm's Formula I=U/R Here) - it may vary between 0.1 to 0.5 Amper. Sorry for bad quality foto - I am a poor Russian student and don't have a fotocamera. Hope this will help someone. Best Regards!
yea right in betweeen the 2 seats and close to the time circuits!!! LOL LOL LOL Sorry I dont really know
I'll test soon. I'm allready at 2.0 so I dont have choise anymore to go back. EDIT: Yes, works fine on 2.0, so you can safely upgrade, its a good firmware (many new things). I havent tested the time before laser stops but if it's changed i'll post it here. EDIT 2: time for the laser and motor is still 8 minutes and 30 seconds, same as before.
People have been scared of this being patched by sony but in all honesty I don't think they can for the simple fact that if they could it would have already happened like with all the other potential exploits that we have been finding.
Hey I have a question, I asked this earlier but don't think I got a response. I already have done this method and it seems to work. But while getting this to work, I accidentally pulled the sensor wires off from the source of the connector. I have pretty much ruined it . I am guessing the little sensor wires are just to power the sensor right? does anyone know how much power the sensor needs and if I can use a battery or some other source to get the sensor back on? just so that if I want to put my ps3 back the way it was, I can without any issues. I don't even use this mod much anymore...so I want to know if I can fix this sensor thing so that I can put my ps3 back the way it was before the mod.
