PS1 is a mystery. I can boot PS1 backups but only from the same region as my PS3. Ie: PS1 backups of japanese NTSC games on my japanese ps3. Trying to boot PS1 USA backups fail with black screen freeze. Maybe my original PS1 TOC game isn't big enough.. it's a possibility. please test and report ^_^; See you, TSR
Sony threatens PlayStation 3 hackers 13 June 2007 11:39 by DVDBack23 http://www.afterdawn.com/news/archive/10086.cfm As much as i want to make this happen like everyone in this forum thread, i would really suggest we do not release too much of these details to the "outside" world. If we get caught =( (thou quite unlikely) or if they upgrade the firmware (most likely) =/ to counter this, all our efforts here will be worthless T_T. Though there might be other hackers or methods out there right now, i really suggest to minimize our public exposure from now on to avoid further problems and stick to our way of doing things with the ps3. =) Keeping this issue wrapped within ourselves will be good for all of us=). Regards to the revolution changing people who unselfishly contributes to this thread. Cheers.
I know where this came from and its not about this mod. The loading of ps3 game disc was done using a leaked ps3 sdk utility. Although it lets the disc be recognized, ps3 still won't run it. I think Sony more worried about other information in the sdk that in the right hands...
So the Motor is always getting 3v of current even when the system is off? won't that lessen the life of it or break it?
That is just the disc loading motor, and its not getting voltage all the time, only when u flip the switch.
after this mod, my ps2 games have distorted sounds (only backups)... only 50% of time. I had to reboot the game to get the soudn working correctly. weird. right now, i am formatting my system to see if that fixes anything. didnt fix it. no problem with composite sounds but HDMI is weird. Never mind, i think it is my tv. When I turn off my tv and turn it back on. it sounds fine. I am using Olevia 232v QUESTION: Does it work on 1.81v? and will it scratch the Blueray laser by any chance? thanks
> QUESTION: Does it work on 1.81v? Yeah it does > and will it scratch the Blueray laser by any chance? Nope as the ejection system highers the disc when it is ejected, the laser is below and doesn't touch it. Later, TSR
anyone figure out what kind of resistor to use if using the 5v wire going to the drive? Dont really want to have to use batteries.
Nice one Vovan90, almost not noticeable from the rear and from the front totally hidden. I'll bet that took some time. Great effort on your part. Are you using batteries or transformer or did you find a source within the PS3?? Does this mod have original functionality or is it all manual now?? I still haven't found a source for the 3v motor yet, but I'm still working on it. I think my friend gave up on figuring the right resistor to do the job. I'm going to go buy a bunch of different resistors and do some trial and error testing myself if I don't find a source soon. I have been pretty busy though, it may take me some time. If anyone else could come up with something man it would be appreciated.
Thats the way we should be thinking. Maybe we should try to boot a ps3 copy by swapping the same original ps3 title. That way we know for sure if backups will ever run and you can claim to be the first to run backup ps3 disc. Unforutnately blu-ray burners are down to $450, still too much for me to invest.
Can you confirm this? Are you on 1.81 firmware? Acouple of my friends have done the mod, updated to 1.81 and now after the PlayStation 2 white logo they just get a black screen. Could it be something in their settings? They have turned on the upscaler and smoothing option. Anything I else I can suggest to them that may fix it? Cheers
1 of them has The Bouncer which has a greater TOC than Pro Evo 6 and worked fine until they updated last night and now Pro Evo 6 does not load and the PS3 crashes. He can not escape via holding the PS button down and selecting Quit Game. He has to switch the PS3 off at the power...
Bit of a update, my friend tried using a Compact Disc swap and this worked. The original CD loaded fine in the xmb and the swap happened and loaded the backup CD no problem. The DVD PS2 game does not even load in the xmb now, the PS3 BRD does not start spinning or nothing when a PS2 DVD is inserted. Any ideas? Was working fine last night until he updated. The PS2 DVD did load this morning but the swap would not work, now the PS2 DVD will not load at all. Strange... (Edited to add film/data DVD's are not loading either.) DVD part of the BRD broke?
Sure sounds like the dvd playing was starting to fail. Reason it worked on ps2 dvd because it was a better copy(more tolerant) than the backup burn, but eventually dvd read failed completely and couldn't even read the original dvd. I bet this is the case then it has nothing to do with 1.81 firmware. Maybe you can check dvd alignment with the pots but that might screw up ur bluray reading. Does any1 have any ideas how the dvd part could of gotten damaged?
What up fellas? I found that certain back-ups won't start without certain original ps2 discs. For example: I tried loading WWESMACKDWNvsRAw(Back-up)with ThewarrioRs original disc and it would give me a black screen. Then i tried loading with sAnAndreas disc and the back-up booted up just fine. I thought that was kinda weird. What do u think?
