I'm very tempted to get a PS3 this holiday season and I'd like to know if there's a way to connect it to my monitor. The only inputs my monitor has though is the standard VGA port, so is there any kind of adapter out there that I could use to connect it? Also, my monitor outputs at 1440x900 so I can theoretically use 720p on it correct? thanks for any answers
you can find adapters on ebay search: "hdmi to vga" or go "hdmi to dvi" then "dvi to vga" The reason the second maybe cheaper is because a lot of newer computer video cards have dvi to vga adapters that come with them. So a lot are on ebay real cheap.
i think on standard vga u cant connect ps3 only dvi with hdcp but i can be wrong just look some spec on your monitor if it has hdcp u can connect it
I also am having problems with hooking up ps3 with Sony SDM-P232W dual dvi dual vga monitor. This was the best in the monitor scene 4 years ago but I do not think it is HDCP compliant. There seems to be conflicting ideas about hooking up to a non HDCP monotoring device. I do not intend to use the ps3 in High Definition mode until I upgrade. Is it possible to install in SD mode. My only interface is through DVI or VGA. My screen res is 1920 x 1200 through an ATI 9700 series.Do anyone know if this has been successfully accomplished by anyone. I can only produce the black screen with HDMI cable and HDMI to DVI connector.
