First before i say anything i would like to compliment a lot of people here who are able to discuss a topic without inmature name calling such as Fanboy this or that. If we want this discussion to remain open then please lets grow up a bit cmk0121. Do you see the way others like Truthman, Joeva, annubis, rabbity, etc.. post. Maybe b.c you are a newbie you dont understand that you can get your point across and at the same time keep from starting a flamewar and also keep from getting banned. I could sit here and call you a fanboy yourself but is it really worth it? I have seen too many threads closed due to people posting the way you do so how about cleaning things up a bit. When you go around saying mostly kids are the people playing video games and you dont even know the average age of the gamers, well....That is an example of poor arument skills. The average age of a PS2 and Xbox gamer was around 25 years of age last time I checked. So actually most parents are not the ones buying most of the consoles. More people my age, 26, and older are buying the systems for themselves. I surely didnot buy a psp or ps2 for my 3 year old son. You are speaking of parents buying mostly for kids. I think you got XBox and PS2 confused with the Gamecube and DS. Those are the systems that mostly kids play. Fact: Most preferred the PS2 over the xbox just based on the games alone. Fact: Xbox did not sell well, remeber??? And that is despite having better graphics, sound, and better online play. PS..I admit i use to post with flame too when i first came here but i know better nowdays.
Another thing why did sony chage thir controller? its one of their best features. Sounds like a great marketing plan, if its working great lets completely change it.way to go sony!
there are fans who think the ps2 is better than the 360,just pure ignorance at every corner.call it prefernce if u want to take the easy way out of that discussion but thats simply insane.
o and what happened last time when sony put a dvd format in their video game system and sold it cheaper than an actual dvd player? The laser reader burned out and sony reccommended people dont play dvd's so heavily on their ps2. Now they are set out to do the same thing, put blu-ray player into a system and they will do the same thing most likely. If their putting the same quality blu-ray player in the ps3 that their selling for a grand then why not lower the price of the blu-ray players and sell them like hottcakes since sony fans think thats what going to happen with the ps3. I mean with the system your getting a two for one, why would neone in their right mind buy the blu-ray player individually, its a waste of money and ur losing features.Even if your not an avid gamer its cheaper and supposedly the same thing right?guess their going for the master pof nothing but jack of all trades type thing. who knows maybe it will work out, i know hype will carry the console for a while and MS squandered their head start so if sony does win i've come to see that its nobodies but MS fault by botching the loss.
the ps2 is better, not graphically or in raw power but in game library and wide-spreadness. the is more for the ps2. plus its online is free, it may lack fetures but atleast u can host ur own server and view them in a list. and cmk0121, dont post three times in a row, edit your one post. and here is the article i mentioned about. the one about ms being sued over mpeg-2 decoding which may lead the the 360 being pulled off shelves to be redesigned, and then would take months to get the redone system out. http://www.ps3portal.com/xbox360/article/355.html
how old are we? im just wondering, i havent came out and been vulgar, "hott garbage, sony fans, and fanboys" dont seem all that harsh to me. Im not sure if im missing something. I've been referred to as a fan boy on this webiste and being a grown man i just brush it off, its not that big of a deal when a complete stranger calls me a fanboy. Lighten up, i tried to take turthmans advice and after that post he wrote i only referred to sony fans as sony fans so get over it. you telling me to grow up is less immature as me calling someone a fanboy. you saying i dont know what im talking about doesnt offend me, who are you...who am i for the fact of the matter? Im nobody and so r u as far as the posts go. i'll try and be as fragile as i can be, debates can get a bit riled up, that SHOULD be fine, its a form of competition.if you dont like what i post please just dont read it. I look at what you've said and take it as constructive criticism, do the same with what i say. If its incorrect view it as the other people on the post do whne they say ur wrong...brush it off, gaming is not our lives now is it? then you tell me how to write my posts telling me to not write three but to edit the one, if i were to behave like you i would say "please dont be rude" but i didnt...i just keep on pluggin.you r a sony fan, so dont be offended when i call you one. i read the artcicle and much like the other million articles ive read i take no merit good or bad til i see it.
hey anubis, heres an article where sony has only lost a court case recently and was ordered to pay 90.7 milliion. that cant be a good thing!its at gamepro.com but instead of making you go ther ei brought the article to you. court things take quite sometime so as with the microsoft casr nothing will happen ne time soon. The Wall Street Journal is reporting that Sony has lost its appeal against tech company Immersion in a case that puts the continued sale of the DualShock controller, and even some games, in some question. A federal judge today upheld the first decision, noting that Sony's new witness was "unreliable" because of a $150,000 advance the company had given him for future technology patents. The matter started when Immersion sued both Microsoft and Sony for allegedly infringing upon its technology when the companies designed their force-feedback controllers. Microsoft settled with Immersion, but Sony refused to back down. After Sony lost the first court fight, the judge orded that Sony pay $90.7 million to immersion and pull the DualShock controller, as well as games like Metal Gear Solid 2 and GTA: Vice City, off store shelves. Sony was able to keep their games and controllers on store shelves throughout the appeal process, but now that the video game giant has lost the appeal, the future of those products is unknown.
ive known about that for along time. its only a controller. all hey have to do is pay royalties and it was settled. with the 360, the problem is in the hardware and cannot be changed, and if lucent refuses to allow royalties that the 360 would have to be pulled. if the do allow it, ms will have already pay the many many millions plus the royalties will be so high since lucent knows that ms needs to keep the 360 going. ms has lots of history with ripping of and stealing products.
ok i have not read much of what has been said, but i just read somehting which anubis keeps saying no matter what, whcih is that the xbox live servers could not be hand picked by players, now i am going to tell you this one last time, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes you can pick your own game, its just depends on the game features, like halo 2 did not have this feature but mech assult did.
maybe i read wrong but i read something about games there as well anubis.either way you cut it 90 million dollars is 90 million dollars. Ms has yet to lose the case and it isnt for sure they will lose if it was they would have settled out of court wisely as they did with immersion and not have had what ahppened to sony happen to them. they won last time becasue of a typo they may win this time for a ligit reason. Yet again we dont have a insde track to these type things
that 90mil was paid long ago and they seem fine. its not known who will win this new case but it doesnt seem to favor ms. and yes some games can, but to have one of your flagship games not work that way was a mistake.
i supose you got a point there, but personally i loved halo 2 online, the fact that you could not choose your own game was only a temporary problem as nearly everyone on my friends lsit was playing halo 2. also new games like ghost recon and some others have the system where you can choose your own game server but i do not like some aspects of it.
and hte whole level placement was pretty cool except for the fact pros always made new accounts so they could own everyone with ease.. it bored me sometimes. so i wonder if they have a working modle of the ps3. im sure with e3 closing they have a prototype in construction. all the materials are already made, so its hard to see why not.
well considering that it releases in november, and looking back to last e3, where xbox 360 was playable and the look how much of a probelm they had with time and trying to release so many at once well if ps3 is not in a playable form this e3 then they will deffinatly have supply problems on release which means i am going to pre order about 10 and sell on ebay
talk about pointless. you could make a lil by charging lots for s+h. i heard burning an 8-layer 200gb bd-ron will take 160 mintues-ish.
I have seen a lot of people pay huge markups on video games systems on ebay when they are first released. I am sure you could make $100-$300 US dollors for each system as long as they are in high demand and especially if a shortage in the first wav of shipments happens. I just wonder what kind of problems we are going to have with the first ps3 that hit the store shelves. Something can always be expected.
