Hey im in australia and have a white ps3 which i got imported from asia..from singapore i think (do asian ps3s connect to internet it aus?) when i try to connect through my wireless network it very rarely connects and when it does, it cant download system updates and will disconnect soon after connecting. it obtains the IP adress but what it usually says is DNS ERROR 80710102 (i have used the correct connecting procedure give by the official sony website too) i can supply loads of details about the ps3 and my router and signal strength etc if needed?
my belkin wireless G router is at the other side of the house and the ssid signal strength varies in the 50% range.. my playstation3 is connected to the same LCD screen as another computer connected to the network.. that computer has pretty unreliable connection
The ps3 needs a minimum 40% signal strength I believe, so you're cutting it very close which is why it may be dropping out on you some times. I'd look into getting a bigger antenna for the router or making some diy mods to the router's antenna. Just google things like router antenna, stronger signal, and you should find stuff that will help. Most of them involve lengthening the antenna or using tinfoil to redirect half the signal making it a directional antenna and therefore stronger.
It means your connection has timed out, possibly because your wireless signal took a temporary dip; especially because you're close to the minimum for a basic connection.
Some people with 2.4 and up have problems with the wireless interfering with the bluetooth. Try going wired and I bet that fixes your problem.
