Hi ive a ps3 and am looking to stream all my AVI's from my laptop to my ps3 via my wireless network. ive got the laptop and ps3 talking to each other and the ps3 now shows media player 11 as a media server. I have a problem however with the ps3 not recognising any of my AVI folders and telling me that there are no files contained within. Anyone got any ideas how i can sort this?
Alright Joe? Few things mate, WMP is only a server, and not a transcoder on the fly, not all files will it stream, i suggest using TVersity. AVI is a container, and its what is witin this container that counts. If the video and audio streams arent compatible with what the PS3 can play, then they wont work.
I believe the PS3 will only play .mpeg and .divx/xvid codecs, which are in a .avi file. I had a file that was .avi, but since it didn't have the right codec, it didn't play on the PS3.
