Has anyone received a message on their ps3 from either a random person or friend telling them that if they forward that message to other people they can get $20 put into their psn wallet on November 1st? Supposedly the purpose behind this is to test out some message tracking system Sounds fake but anyone know anything or gotten one of these messages?
It's a scam to get you to reply so that later on they will send another message that says you won something but you need to give your login details. That is when they steal your account and buy stuff on your credit card through the PSN etc. Report it and block whoever sent you this crap.
Yeah there's a ton of the damn things going around since the copy and paste feature. There's another going around saying if you send it to 20 friends you can get into the mw2 beta.
It's starting to piss me off actually, cause I'm getting an average of 2-3 chain letters A DAY! All from random players I've played with online... all filled with BS about Halo 3 and MW2 beta...
Now that sounds like what it actually is. I got a message about halo 3 and God of War 3 demo ugh It looks like nothing is free from spam
Spam. I got 2 from the same dude, with the exact same text about the MW2 beta. But the instructions were to send to 50 people
Wow. That's pretty bad luck for you guys. I haven't received a single spam mail yet. (Then again, I've only got two friends... :/) Would reporting the person actually do anything? I mean, since you can create multiple accounts and such on the same PS3. Or can Sony actually disable an entire console from accessing PSN?
I've got a few of them...most of them seem to come from people on my "met online" list that are not on my "friends" list. I figure that most of these people are just morons who don't think to check online or report abuse to sony...so I treat them like morrons and reply, "We're sorry, this promotion has reached it's limit and has been shut down. You will recieve the game on launch day, and the full price of $60 has been charged to your credit card" HEHE...

The starhawk one was one of the first ones I got, they are getting lazy if they are still using that old one. Now I know why sony waited so long to include cut&paste.
