My friend gave me his copy of POS 1 & 2. He has lost the serial and access key for it. I don't care about playig online. I just want to use it with the pc. Is there a generic number I can enter into the serial screen or am I just out of luck?
Hello Dude 8)!!! I have some good news. The PC to Gamecube exploit doesnt require a valid serial number. You can literally type in giberish and it will work just fine. ROCK ON!! Also let me clear some things up. Your primary DNS and Defualt gateway are just your PC's ip address you don't have to manually set it to 192.168.1.1 or something. If you want to find out what your IP is (in windows XP) you can simple go to the windows start menu > run > then type in "cmd", in windows 98 type "command" without the "'s and then when the command prompt pops up type in "ipconfig /all" without the "'s. This will list your network adapter and display its IP. I am conencted to through a router and my network adapter's (my network card's) ip is 192.168.0.2. The gamecube's IP can be whatever you set it to be in Phantasy Star. I know the defualt in alot of the appz is 192.168.1.32 or something. Mine is set to 192.168.0.4 and it works fine. I have noticed though that some programs like pheonix, even though they allow you to set it to soemthing other than 192.168.1.32, it is best to set it on that one for some reason i get less crashes. Hope this helps.
As long as the IP addresses you use are in the same subnet connectivity can occurr, however, I noticed when I started working with this stuff that although connectivity would occurr, the applications appeared to be looking for the addresses listed in my tutorial specifically.
ICE MONKEY!!!!!! Little known fact LM-Mario stands for Little Monkey Mario (long story about an online flight sim and a squadron I was apart of) I am a big fan of anyone who helps people as much as you do. You are always kind and respectful of even the most bullheaded forum postees. Ok back to the topic. Ya you are right. I just dont like changing my PC's IP to something else if I dont absolutely have to. Part One: I noticed you mentioned somehting about not supplying a DNS (Domain Name System) or somehting and that may provide some kind of penifit??? Would you please reinterate that statement. Part Two: Also I have been reading that the ISO loaders like ACL and others are the bottleneck in the ethernet cable transfer speed. Is this true and do you see a day when this may be corrected. Part Three: Also again, I have seen other methods of loading the PSO exploit without using a utility like PSOLoad. This is done through action replay replay. Would using action replay or a max drive eliminate the need for an ACL iso loader??? Part Four: Can you believe that it is possible to stream games from the Gamecube and PS2 but not the Xbox (the system most like a PC). I am very frustrated with this fact becuase I have been wanting to just set up all my games on my PC and just load them to each system. I don't mind mild lag for extra convenience. Ok well thank you. Sincerely, Mario
Thanks for the compliments As for your points: 1. You probably saw me comment on the part about specifying a default gateway in the TCP/IP profile on the Gamecube side. My original directions told me to specify it, however, due to the nature in which the TCP/IP protocol works, as long as the source and destination addresses are in the same subnet the gateway address is never used as is the case with the streaming. For example: the Gamecube uses 192.168.1.32 and the PC uses 192.168.1.100 and both have a subnet mask of 255.255.255.0. The subnet mask in this example states that the first 3 numbers of the address represents the network number. Since both addresses share 192.168.1 as the first 3 numbers, both addresses are in the same network and therefore communication with the default gateway is never requested. By not specifying a default gateway on the Gamecube (or PC NIC connected to the Gamecube), data packets between the two do not have a means of traversing off of the subnet they reside on (192.168.1.0). 2. I don't know about the loaders being a problem, but when I start the streaming process, the .DOL file I send to the Gamecube allows the ethernet adapter on the Gamecube to auto-configure and how as mine is connected to a 100BaseT Full-duplex capable PC interface, it communicates such, however, once the network routines built-in to Phantasy Star Online take over, it appears to reconfigure the interface to operate at 10BaseT. It would appear that Nintendo/Sega figured that since nobody has Internet faster than 10Mbit/sec. at home (which would be the eqivalent of about 7 T-1 lines), just configure it to run at 10BaseT and nobody would probably ever notice, at least until now. 3. I have never used nor am I first hand familiar with any exploits involving an Action Replay or Max Drive. 4. I've never heard of streaming anything to the PS2. I'd like to hear more about that. I don't have an X-Box but I believe that you can store the games on the PC, copy them to the X-Box hard drive via FTP, and boot them from the hard drive. I would be perfectly happy with a setup like that.
Hello Ice Monkey, For more information on loading PS2 Games from your hard drive connected to your PC check out this site. http://www.ps2cover.com/hdloader.html - Mario
You can stream to an XBOX just fine. I don't personally know how to do it, but I have a good friend with an xbox that didn't want to spend the $$ on a new hard drive for his xbox, so he streams in all his games (at 100mbit). It is doable. And for lm_mario's part 2: Sometime around January (http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/96741) somebody came up with (http://kontek.net/kontek/console/bbadebug.shtml) something that supposedly re-initializes the BBA on the gamecube side, and allows you to set it to 100mbit full or half duplex. However, all the reports I've seen is that it simply isn't worth the huge drop in reliability that came from enabling the 100mbit on the BBA. Perhaps the Sonic Team left at it 10mbit because they were having problems they didn't want to take the time to fix at 100mbit ?
Hello Phyrus, I have tried the bba debug dol and while it says it is doing this. I cant load a game afterwards or I dont know how. I hit the start button to reload another dol even with PSOload 2.0a and it doesnt load a new dol it just freezes. If someone could tell me how to do it I could test it for myself. The unstability could be caused by the delay and frequency of the packets controlled and set my the Iso streamer (ACL or another). So if you know how to load up ACL without having to restart the gamecube thus reseting it. Please do tell. Oh and Phyrus, I almost can you ask your friend how he performed such a feet on the xbox. Everyone I talk to says, in a rather upsetting tone, NO it can't be done. So if your friend knows how, or where to look to find out, I would really appreciate it. Thanx
Hello Ice Monkey, PSO will not let you set the defualt Gateway to *blank*, it reports a router error and then fills it in. Mario
I'll see if I can find some info on xbox streaming. what is more fun than that.. is setting up linux on an xbox, then setting up a gamecube loader on that linux boot, and then having an xbox stream games to the gamecube. awwww, console love.
I guess if you can't set the default gateway to blank on Phantasy Star Online that would explain why all the instructions I was given for streaming said to specify it. Specifying it to 192.168.1.100 effectively nullifies it's function as long as you don't have Internet Connection Sharing enabled on the PC or a route configured between network interfaces.
